New Position to be Announced on Wednesday
Tuesday, January 6, 2009
President-Elect Obama has decided that he needs an extra person to "help put us on a path to fiscal discipline" as an official said. So he is expected on Wednesday to announce a new position called "chief performance officer," which mainly will be responsible to pick apart the federal budget and reform government. He plans on tightening the reigns and wants to know every detail of budget spending, and will pick apart the federal budget to see where it can become leaner. He will especially scrutinize everything that has been implemented in the budget for the last 8 years by George Bush. Things that are using up funds unnecessarily will have to go, and the ones that appear to be needed and working will stay. Money spent wisely is needed, but money that is being used on things not spent wisely will be targeted for other things. This position will be critical in helping the Government manage money.
