Obama Supports Use of Hard Drugs, Heroine, Ecstasy, Marijuana and Psychedelic Mushrooms

Sunday, January 19, 2014

Personal Opinion of the Editor for 'Obama in the White House blog'

In a breaking news story, President Obama now states that "Marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol". This article will be strictly based on my personal opinion, and not of the Obama administration, his allies or his enemies.
I am totally floored to hear that the President of the United States is telling people that marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol in a recent CNN White House article. Finally, I am drawing the line regarding his beliefs and mine, at least on this one topic. For the most part, I did not feel a need to outwardly state my opinion in the past, i.e. when gay men and women were allowed to serve in the military, and the repulsion of 'don't ask, don't tell'. I have a few gay friends, and they are good people, and I look past their sexual preference as I believe that this is a personal decision between two people. I do not condone gay relationships or gay marriages, but again, it is not my business to decide for others.

But now in the present story that just broke out on the CNN blog regarding the support that Obama has for marijuana usage, I feel that I must be honest and try to explain why I am emphatically against President Obama regarding this issue. The article states that marijuana "in the same category as heroin, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms by the federal government, is no more dangerous than alcohol." So what is he trying to say here?

He confuses people who can now say that President Obama is telling them that heroin, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms, not said in as many words, should be legalized. There was a time when alcohol was considered dangerous to people who use it extensively, but who is to say that any amount of marijuana that you may consume, including heroin, ecstasy or psychedelic mushrooms would not be harmful to you when compared to alcohol. Is the Presidents idea  proven? I can state that there are hundreds of studies that will say that pot smoking, in tandem to the other mentioned drugs are much more dangerous to your health than alcohol. Moderation is the key here, but what if you get 'hooked' on one of these more dangerous drugs? Is it true that you could be more likely to die from overuse of these more exotic drugs compared to alcohol? Bringing up these beliefs of Obama can only instigate the temptation of the U.S. to legalize other drugs that have already been proven to be dangerous to your health. It has already started with two states now legalizing marijuana. Another dozen or so are looking over the idea to also extend legal use of that drug.

Obama states in the article as he explained "As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chuck of my adult life. I don't think it is more dangerous than alcohol."

The above statement is outrageous. Outwardly stating your beliefs on this issue does not make you a role model for others, especially children. I don't expect others, and I guess the President of the United States Barack Obama to have my values regarding drugs, smoking and alcohol as I believe that he is definitely NOT a role model here.
On a personal note, I only drink alcohol on New Years Eve and very minimally throughout the rest of the year. I don't expect everyone to do the same, but I feel that I can handle control over alcohol much better than the President. Maybe I am the exception, as I have never had a single cigarette in my lifetime. I have NEVER ingested heroin, ecstasy or psychedelic mushrooms. So whose values would you say are better, the President or mine? I guess I now fall into the 'old fashioned' category.
I am very disappointed with my country and the President when it comes to the continued promiscuous use of hard line drugs. It now will only be a matter of time before hardened drugs are legal for consumption. To me, hearing the President of the United States, someone whom I admire, now openly admits his feelings about drugs in public no less then disgusts me.

Time for a Debt Ceiling Increase

Saturday, January 18, 2014

It's a new year and already time to fight again regarding the debt ceiling. The U.S. will go into default by the end of February at the latest, unless the nation avoids a suspension by Feb. 7, 2014. After Feb. 7, special accounting maneuvers will have to be implemented in order to pay the country's bills. On a personal note, I believe for some reason that the U.S. Congress will raise the debt ceiling in time to avoid the issue, mainly because the Republican party has now run out of wiggle room to constantly resist what this country needs in order to preform their agenda. Cutting expenses seems to come up with every bill that is brought up in Congress. The constant restraints to pass bills in Congress affects everyone. To promote their agenda, the conservative base in Congress has again voted against extending unemployment insurance, which now affects at least 1.5 million people, and will affect another 2.5 million by years end if nothing is accomplished.
There seems to be so much work to do in Congress, yet because of political reasons, nothing seems to get done. The 'do nothing' Congress is a failure and continues to fail under the lack of leadership in the House by Republican Speaker John Boehner. This group of U.S. Senators led by him in the house continue to defy the needs of the people, and as stated in a CNN article, "any last-minute drama over the debt ceiling could cut the U.S. economy's potential for growth and undermine confidence." Treasury Secretary Jack Lew also states "any last-minute drama over the debt ceiling could cut the U.S. economy's potential for growth and undermine confidence."
You might ask why Republicans continue to buck the system and not do much of anything. Maybe the sole reason is that they will not act if President Obama supports the issue. One thing that I can say that is good about the Speaker of the House John Boehner at the time, he told reporters on Thursday "we shouldn't even get close" to defaulting. "I would hope that the House and the Senate would act quickly on a bill to increase the debt limit."
Will the Republicans and Tea Party members support the Speaker of the House? If they do not, then maybe it is time for him to step down, but of course that will not happen. Inside the party, their is a civil war going on within the party at the moment. It is for this reason, unless things change, a Republican president would be unlikely to be elected in 2016 because the the lack of organization between the Republicans and the Tea Party, the lack of a solid agenda, and the lack of a good solid candidate. Chris Christie, the man that could have been the party's only hope to match against Hilary Clinton if she decided to run for president, is now embroiled in government corruption in New Jersey. The New Jersey governor most likely would not fair well against other members of the Republican party in the primaries, even though as of a week ago, he could have been considered a candidate. With the scandal going on in full force, and the chance of being convicted of a crime, it would be worthless now to waste money in an attempt to gain the trust from his own party.
In the next article, I will report on what has become 'bridgegate', involving the office of the Governor and others around him.

Unemployment Insurance vs. Job Creation

Friday, January 10, 2014

Instead of talking about the latest media talk about Chris Christie and 'BridgeGate', I have decided to keep on a topic that is important to the American people, and that would be 'unemployment insurance' and 'job creation' and not discuss 'watergate' on this blog, at least not until more details regarding it are uncovered.

All of the quotes I've actually come across during the last couple of days from members of the hill just seem to disgust me. Starting with Mr. Mitch O'Connell who says "It's only when you believe that government is the answer to all of your problems (for example) when you talk about unemployment insurance instead of job creation". Even President Ronald Reagan stated " Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem". The Republicans are saying that we must keep the big picture in mind, that finding jobs for people are more important than helping people with unemployment insurance that still do not have that job, and at no fault of their own. Rush Limbaugh said on his talk show program, " What is unemployment insurance? It is paying people not to work" Are you kidding me?!?!?! Talk about people out of touch with society.
These guys will be the first to tell you that there shouldn't be anyone out of work, and proof of this is the fact of the success of the stock market, now at record highs. So who does the stock market actually help? Does it help the poor or does it help the rich? Without question, the stock markets help the rich, as the poor have no means to contribute to the economy other than to put back into it for living expenses what unemployment provides, and that would be money for food, money for gasoline, money to heat their homes, money for clothes, and money to survive.
Mr. Rush Limbaugh and others with this type of thinking, and the one Senator that comes to the top of my mind is Senator Rand Paul. These guys actually believe that people who are unemployed are using the system to get free money, and do not want to work. First, I'd like to see one instance of proof of this statement that people would rather collect unemployment than provide for their family with a good-paying job. That's the other issue. The minimum wage of this country has been stagnant, and is proof that the "rich get richer, and the poor are getting poorer". Income for the poor has been the same for years, regardless of the rise in cost of living, and the income for the rich continues to climb, along with paying incificient taxes that also contribute to a slower recovering economy.
At the moment, we are in a cross-roads in time, at the point where people with jobs and have money to live and enjoy life, and the people who do not have money, who now have to support the additional fact that their own country is letting them down, leaving them to hang out to dry not only without a job, but without any substinance to survive.
The bill that was co-sponsored by both Democrats and Republicans is only a stop-gap bill, meaning that it would fund unemployment insurance for only the next 3 months. In this amount of time, Washington needs to come up with a better plan for support for the unemployed, and not just believe that the only place for someone to be in the United States without a job is to live under a bridge or in a cardboard box. The statistics are that by the end of 2014 if something permanent can be done to help the unemployed, there will be over 4 million people without any form of income to live on.
The longer the unemployed are not being helped with necessary funding to survive, the more our economy will sink. It is now estimated that all of the economic growth that has happened under President Barack Obama's two terms in office call all be for nothing if Congress doesn't get this done, to provide unemployment insurance to 1.3 million people, as soon as possible.
The bottom line here is that the Republican party does not want to help the poor, only help the rich. They believe that if you cannot find a job, then it is your fault. They believe that this country is known to be "the land of opportunity" and that you should be able to find a job. "Any job" is not what many want, but they want a job that they qualify for. Someone with a college education should not have to resort to driving a garbage truck, or become a blue collar worker fixing streets. But many of these people, the same ones with an education, just can't seem to find the right job or any job for that matter in their field of expertise. Another fact is that for every job now available to be filled by someone, even the ones who are qualified for them, there are at least three times as many people looking to fill those jobs, which mathmatically states that there just is not enough jobs for the unemployed.
So what is the answer? According to the Republican thinking, the reason why many people do not have jobs is because they do not want a job and want to stay unemployed. Again, who can live on just unemployment benefits? So the Republican thinking is so far out of touch with the working class of this nation.

Republicans Continue NOT to Support Unemployment Benefits for 1.3 Million Americans

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Yesterday was the first day of Congress for the new year of 2014. Even though Congress has so much to do this year, even knowing that their first order of business will be to extend unemployment benefits to 1.3 million people, the members failed to act. The matter was not even brought up on the floor, but it looks as if some of the right wingers known as Republicans are slowly coming on board to pass this legislation in the House. Needed to pass would be a minimum of 5 republicans, and it looks as if at least 2 are a sure vote for the extension.
These unemployed people who through their no fault of their own, are now without any income, and this week will be no exception, as the unemployment checks that normally would arrive this week will not come. Eventually the Republicans will be forced to vote for the bill, but not without making it difficult for the unemployed. When and affirmative vote is reached, the recipients will receive back pay for their benefits, that most likely last for only 3 months. Will the benefits be extended again, or maybe what should be done the next time is to make the unemployment benefits permanent. One of the reasons why the conservatives want to stop payments is because they believe that anyone still collecting unemployment benefits for nearly a year or so must not be seriously looking for a job. Of course, that is pure bunk. Most of these people lost their jobs through no fault of their own. Should they be forced to now take any job, regardless of their experience? I believe not. But what is important that these unemployed do not become homeless, as this will make their job search that much more difficult. An employer would rather higher someone who at least has a roof over his/her head, than someone who is living off of the street.
To me, this continuous blocking of laws to help the American people is just plain outright sick. How can anyone live with his conscience, like that of Rand Paul, who outwardly speaks of not supporting unemployment insurance to the needy and poor? Mr Paul enjoyed his Christmas and New Years holiday break this past year, and wasn't worried where his income was coming from, as he has a high income working in Congress. He may of had more turkey for Christmas, enjoyed eggnog, had many Christmas presents, sang Christmas carols, and enjoyed the warmth and security of his big home.
The poor, especially those of the now unemployed, compounded with no income thanks to people like Rand Paul, did not have a merry Christmas, as they had to worry about just receiving their last employment insurance paycheck, which in itself was not much, but enabled them to get by. No Christmas presents, no egg nog, no Christmas carols, and no big meal to celebrate the birth of Jesus, or the welcoming of the new year.
I have to think that normally in a second year of a Presidency, it would be difficult to not pass bills supported by the other party. But this year may be different, as the Republicans must try to save face and pass some bills that favor the American people, or there may be a chance that the House could go back with a Democratic majority.
Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate that even didn't come close in the election to beat the incumbent President Barack Obama, has been disgraced with his loss, mainly do to his flip-flopping of the issues, the hard right-wind stance he had on the issues. Known as a man that was responsible for people loosing their jobs, he learned the hard way that people would not elect him to be the President because of his past actions. Romney still flip-flops, even though he is not running in the primaries for the Presidency next year. Only a hypocrite like Romney would pass Romney Care in his own state when he was governor, to then denounce ObamaCare that was modeled off of his own plan that is working in the state he governed. People like his dear friend Ran Paul, openly does not support ObamaCare, openly does not want the poor to receive unemployment benefits and openly denounces Planned Parenthood. So now it is Rand Paul's turn. He may run for president with an announcement before the end of 2014, but he will never have the slightest chance of becoming the President of the United States. He is against abortions, and doesn't care what women feel about abortion, or what the Federal law is for that matter. Roe vs. Wade now makes it legal on the Federal level to have abortion, but many states namely who are run by a state house filled with conservative Republicans have passed laws that make it difficult to get an abortion. These women, thanks to people like Rand Paul, now have to resort to travel to Mexico to get an abortion, at the expense of the safety of these woman, even knowing that many of them are the same people who now have no income thanks to not voting on unemployment benefits. These poor just can't win, and eventually people like Rand Paul with get a taste of revenge for the very people that he as so deeply hurt and mis-represented.

Mr. Rand Paul truly is the Grinch of 2013, and so far it seems that he wants to be nominated for the same title this year in 2014.

UPDATE:   The Senate has now passed a vote and received the required number of votes (60) to at least now talk and prepare to actually vote on this issue. The problem is whether the Republican controlled House will actually vote on the measure if it now passes in a formal vote to extend unemployment benefits in a vote that will most certainly come in the Senate after a debate. With public opinion, which now is firmly in the place of Democrats for this issue, this problem will not go away for the Republicans, nor will it do the conservative party any good in the upcoming election year to benefit their party. It appears that the Democrats have truly won this battle, even before it has been waged.

Betting Hilary Clinton Will Run for President

Friday, January 3, 2014

The New Year is hardly just a few days old, and the news media is already talking about possible candidates for the Democratic and Republican parties that may run in the next general election.
The two top candidates are Hilary Clinton, and Chris Christie. Presently in a recent CNN poll, the Democrats are most likely in the best position to be elected, mainly because of the stance Democrats have on the issues, and the very high popularity of the prior First Lady Hilary Clinton. I feel that loosing the Presidential primary to Barack Obama was her largest political setback, and she has the audacity to right the ship by running again. She will be running again for President.
Hilary has endured a very productive life in politics. Besides being the First Lady for 2-term Bill Clinton, she has emerged even more popular than the ex-President. Swallowing her pride in the loss in the Presidential bid with Barack Obama, she quickly came on-board with the 44th U.S. President Barack Obama and became his Secretary of State for a little over 5 years. Then she dropped out of site, in an attempt to rest, but others calling it a time of calm before the storm, just before the time she announces her bid to run to become the 45th President of the United States. Truthfully, the only issue that may tarnish her image in the election is all the talk and hype of Bengahsi. But that alone will not be enough to sway voters to vote for the Republican candidate, whoever it may be. One of the deciding factors of her candidacy will be how 'ObamaCare' unfolds, and whether it will be a success or a failure. At the present time, Obamacare has been in force for only a few days, and the reactions are positive. People who never had health care before, or ones that had pre-existing conditions now have the ability to have health insurance. Noone can be turned down, regardless of what condition you are in. Women and minority races can now apply and receive health insurance without prejudice. People with low incomes can now qualify with assistance, making their costs for coverage very low. The Federal Health website and individual state health exchanges are contributing to the new law of Obamacare to become a success. Presently, over 2-million people have signed up for health insurance from the Federal website, and many thousands more on individual state run sites which also support Medicaid, for people who have very low incomes. So it most likely will not be 'ObamaCare' that would be a stumbling block for Hilary in her possible bid for the White House. Obama's signature achievement, 'ObamaCare', is here to stay, and the right wing party could only now pray that it goes belly-up.
Hilary has everything running in her favor. Most of the Democrats that would run if she did not run now support her and most likely will not run against her in the primaries in 2015 if she runs. Within the next few months, Hilary should make it known whether she will run or not, and her only contender from the right wing party would be Chris Christie at this point in time. But it is definitely too early to tell if she will run or who may run against her. One thing is for sure, President Barack Obama will not be running for a third term, unless the laws were changed. Even if he were, I highly doubt if he would run again.
Hilary Clinton has governing experience, as she became a U.S Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009. After her career as Senator, she became Secretary of State for President Barack Obama. She is definitely the most popular candidate at this moment in history, and is above reproach by other of either party.
In recent voter popularity, Chis Christie of the Republican party shows promise of his ability to attract voters from both parties. But his main support is from his own state, and most likely would have a difficult time in carrying the States of New York, Florida, and California during a general election, the states that Hilary Clinton should have easy control of.
Again, only time will tell. Hilary is extremely popular and if she runs, most all other opponents from either party would have a hard time competing against her.

Using DNA To Trace Michelle Obama’s Past

Below is an article from Ancestry.com. It proves that Michelle Obama has some white ancestors. The article reads as follows:

First Lady Michelle Obama always suspected that she had white ancestors. But she had no idea who they were. With DNA testing and research, I was able to solve that mystery and finally identify the white forbears who had remained hidden in her family tree for more than a century.
All across the country, growing numbers of people are turning to DNA testing as a tool to help unlock the secrets of their roots, using companies such as ancestry.com, among others. When I started researching my new book, “American Tapestry: The Story of the Black, White and Multiracial Ancestors of Michelle Obama,’’ I pored over historical documents that I found in local archives, courthouses and libraries as well as records that I found online on ancestry.com and other state and local databases. But I knew that DNA testing would be the only way to unearth the truth.

I suspected that Mrs. Obama’s white ancestors belonged to the white Shields family that had owned her great-great-great grandmother, Melvinia Shields. So I persuaded several descendants of the black and white Shields to do DNA testing.
The results showed that the two families were related. The DNA testing indicated that Melvinia’s owner’s son was the likely father of Melvinia’s biracial child, Dolphus Shields. (Dolphus Shields is the first lady’s great-great grandfather.)
This was painful news for many of the Shields descendants. They knew that that Melvinia might have been raped and that their kinship originated during slavery, one of the darkest chapters of our history.
But last month, members of both sides of the family – black and white — put aside the pain of the past. They got together for the very first time in Rex, Georgia at a ceremony to commemorate Melvinia’s life. They swapped family stories, posed for photographs, exchanged phone numbers and had a meal together.
