Republicans Are Proven Wrong About the Economy

Friday, July 25, 2014

Today is July 25th, 2014.

The country is moving forward.

The NFL teams are going to training camp.

Folks around the globe are thinking about their fantasy team coming up this fall. Who do you pick?

When you pick, you want PERFORMANCE. You want NUMBERS. You want some HARD STUFF to go on.

When it comes to the Economy, it is time to share some numbers that you just can't argue with.

So how about one of the most under covered stories of the year, the Obama economy. The news surrounding the economic recovery in recent months is one of the highest positives of modern time.  To state it basically, the Obama economy is BOOMING.

Maybe I need to make the case as to why I believe that the economy is really working.

First, the President just yesterday on CNBC said the following:

"When you think about where we were Steve, when I came into office and where we are now, it's pretty hard to find an economic measure where we are not significantly better off. I don't have to tell you about the stock market and where that's gone, corporate profits, record highs. But unemployment now is lower than it was pre-Leaman. We've seen the housing market recover, not as fast as we would like, the auto industry recovering. We remain the most dynamic, enovative economy in the world."

Now let's go back to 2009, when the Republicans tried to pin all the problems on your back. The conservatives or Republicans always have said this is Obama's economy. Admitting that the economy needs improvement, the President is definitely right on the money. But still, the following are the facts.

First, the stock market now is hitting record highs, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average around 16,400 May 2016 to over 17,000 at this moment in July.

Second, the most recent job report shows that there has been 288,000 jobs added in June. Oponents of Obama would say that this just cannot be true, because there has been at least that many people now not looking for work, that are not counted in the numbers. Even if that were true, why would that be so. Maybe it is because the Congress, namely the Republicans in the congress does not want people to have jobs. All the way back in December of 2013 and up to now, the Republicans have refused to grant unemployment benefits to people that are struggling to make ends meet, middle class people that seem to be going in the wrong direction. The Republicans will not help. Instead, these people are tired fighting. Many of them are now no longer looking for jobs, but that in itself is not the mainstream idea of the unemployed. Most everyone wants a job, but the Republican base does not make it even bearable for someone to not have a job. Even if every job was filled in America, there still would be many people unemployed. The difference now is that many of these people are not counted in the numbers. But looking at the numbers of people actually registered and looking for jobs, the unemployed in this group has dropped.

Third, how about 52 straight weeks of uninterrupted job growth. There has been 9.7 million jobs added in this time-frame since the beginning of 2010. Just around the same time, there was a bill called 'Obamacare' that was passed around that time, and the Republicans claimed that it would be a "job killer". The unemployment rate has now dropped to 6.1%. It is the lowest rate since September of 2008.

Fourth, how about the automobile industry. When Obama provided money to help the auto industry, the Republicans called it a "bailout". In fact, it was a loan that prevented businesses like the car industry from filing bankruptcy. It definitely saved allot of jobs.

Fifth, the housing market has rebounded. Today, your home is worth more than when President George W. Bush was in office.

Sixth, Corporate profits are through the roof and they are displaying record highs in many cases.

Seventh, we can't forget about 'Obamacare'. Where is the march to get rid of it now? This is no march to get rid of it now, because it is working.

Everything mentioned above are FACTS. This is truly a remarkable turn-around in the midst of all the 'Nay-Sayers'.

Everything that was accomplished was done in the face of blatant Republican obstruction. The Congress just simply refuses to work with President Obama. The President has made it clear that if the Republicans did their job, the country would be in much better shape.

The President said....

"There are some things that are holding us back. The main thing that is hold us back is inaction by our Federal Government on things like infrastructure, on raising the minimum wage, and doing some thing that would help middle class families feel a little bit of relief. If we do those things, then we are going to be in pretty good shape."

Those things stated by the President seem like they are in reach, but with today's 'do-nothing' Congress, they are not. Presently, after doing nothing recently, just today now the Congress is going on summer vacation. Nothing gets done in Congress. Hopefully some of their constituents back home will put a bug in their ears to get something done or don't count on getting elected again this fall.

The Republicans claim that a wage increase in this country would kill jobs.

Ted Cruz says....
"I want the American people to realize, that every member of this Senate that votes for the minimum wage, is voting to tell up to 1,000,000 Americans, your jobs don't matter, because I'm voting to take away your job."

Really?! This is proof that the Republicans have not a clue how to fix the economy.

Paul Ryan says the raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour would hurt the economy, because it raises the price of labor.

Really?! He doesn't have the slightest idea what would, or at least he is not telling the American people that he has a plan that is better than raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour. Yes, the employers would have to dish more out to their workers, but the end result would be good for everyone. Actually the profits would tend to be more, if you encourage good working people that can perform their job successfully to want to do more during their job.

Marco Rubio says...

"Liberals up increases in taxes, and the minimum wage, as ways the struggling to earn more. But what they don't tell you is that these policies will result in many people would potentially loose their jobs."

Really?! Does he think that the employers would fire an employee who wants to work harder and produce more because they just received a wage increase. That is a big incentive for many middle class Americans.

These Senators are flat out wrong.

The facts are that states that increase the minimum wage have increased job growth.

The fact is that Republicans have been wrong on EVERY facet of the economy. How about in 2012 when repealing the Bush tax cuts were supposed to hurt the job creators.

The bottom like here is that Republicans believe that you cannot be for jobs and against the very people that create them. Everything that the Republicans said was going to happen was wrong. It was all theory, as none of their predictions came through when the issue was centered around the economy.

When the Bush tax cuts expired, Corporate profits went through the roof. How is that hurting the job makers. It's not. President Obama claimed that the business in America would move forward with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts.America did move forward, and it was not a job killer like the Republicans claimed it would be. There has been 18 straight months in private sector job growth since the tax cuts expired. The Clinton rates are definitely working better than when President Bush was in office.

Obamacare did not kill jobs. The Republicans claimed that it would kill jobs. Republican Michelle Bachmann wanted to repeal what they call a "failure", as it literally kills women, kills children, kills senior citizens as this was what she claimed would be the case while speaking in front of Congress.

The numbers prove that Obamacare did not kill jobs.If anything, Obamacare created jobs in this country. Proof of this is that at least 9,000,000 new jobs have been created since Obama signed 'The Affordable Care Act'.

So the question here is how can the Republicans be so wrong concerning millions of people?

The Bottom line...

The Republicans have zero credibility when it comes to to the economy. They seem to be wrong on EVERYTHING. They continue to be wrong by only being concerned about their own interests, not those of the American people.

Dumb, Dumber, and Dumbest Speaker of the House

Friday, July 11, 2014

The Republican party, namely John Boehner has announced a lawsuit to sue President Obama. Some believe this may be the first step to impeachment. The lawsuit is about delaying the employer mandate, something that President Obama did via Executive Order over 2 years ago.

A few years ago, Speaker Boehner announced that he urged the President to delay it, but now he is suing the President over what he supported just a few years ago. At that time, the Speaker said in an announcement,

"I am glad that the President recognizes that his health care law is not good for the economy, but just delaying the employer mandate frankly is not good enough. Today we sent a letter to the President asking him to justify delaying the employer mandate while leaving in place the mandate on individuals and families."

So please correct me if I'm wrong, the Speaker's first reaction was to praise the delay, and to push for more of a delay, but now Speaker Boehner wants to sue over it because the President issued an Executive Order to delay the employer mandate. Is this just plain dumb or what.

First, it was dumb to ever try to appeal the Affordable care act.

Second, it was dumber to try to appeal it over 50 times.

Third, the dumbest thing he can do to try and sue the President over an executive action, as now the taxpayers loose again, because taxpayer dollars will be spent during this taxpayer funded lawsuit.

Are the Republicans supposed to be fiscal conservatives or not? I guess they only want to be conservative in their own right when they want to. The Republicans are just showing how much of being a hypocrite that they actually can be.

The bottom line, the Republicans, namely the Congressmen in the House are suing the President because they will try everything in their power to make him fail. Yes, President Obama's numbers are not great, but he is holding his own, no matter what the Republicans throw at him. He is definitely a survivor.

There is no question that the Republicans are stepping out of bounds again. Does John Boehner want to act as the Speaker of the House? He seems to be proud to be the leader of the 'Do Nothing Congress'. It appears that all he wants to do is act as the microphone of the Tea Party.

To take this a step further, it is hard to believe that John Boehner can be so dumb. He has to know what the Constitution says.

The Constitution doesn't say that the President can be impeached because the President makes a decision that Congress may think that is out of the bounds of the Constitution. The Constitution clearly states that a President can only be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, like those created by the Republican President Richard Nixon. If this is truly the case, then John Boehner must tell the American people which high crime or misdemeanor that President Obama is guilty of.

As far as President Obama, he most definitely has been energized by this ridiculous lawsuit. The Democratic supporters are energized too. The President has been making speech after speech literally mocking the Republicans for posing a lawsuit on him because his is doing his job, unlike the Republicans who cannot do their jobs, except to block just about every bill to come their way in an attempt to ridicule President Obama. The Republicans take no regard in hurting Americans in the process. As long as the 1% doesn't get hurt, then it doesn't matter about anyone else.

President Obama knows that he has a political winner here. It seems like as if the Republicans handed him this win on a 'silver platter'. What is the reason why Republicans just cannot see how they are emboldening the Democrats?  Expect to see a record turnout in the midterm election as far as Democrats this year. The Republicans are in total denial here regarding the mid-term elections. They will not even consider the thought that the Democrats will show up in record numbers for the mid-term election. This is my prediction.

The bottom line is YES, the President CAN make his own laws. They are called Executive Orders. A president can use his power with discretion, especially if a President must act because of the 'Do Nothing Congress'.

What should happen here is that the people of the United States should sue Congress for 'failure to act'. There are way to many bills that the Senate voted on in favor of, and Speaker Boehner refuses to let any of these bills reach the House floor for a vote. President Obama should sue Boehner.

Case in point, one such bill, the Immigration Bill that passed in the Senate, that the majority of Democrats, Republicans and Independents support nationally, will never reach the floor of the House during President Obama's term as President. This is a serious obstruction of justice committed by John Boehner, and he should be sued for it. If the immigration bill would have passed, then what is happening now on the southern border of Texas with immigrant women and children, would have been avoided. Instead, the President now has to ask the Congress to pass an emergency measure to approve needed money to support the cause on the southern border. The Republicans are blaming President Obama for failing to get something done along the border, and if he would have had something done, this border issue would not exist. They, the Republicans forget that their own beloved Republican President George W. Bush passed the present law regarding immigrants at the border.

Even with resistance with the Republican led House, Congressmen are chipping away at the dollar amount the President asked for, which is 3.7 million dollars. The longer the Congress fails to approve of these funds for the women and children at the border, the more the Republicans are pushing themselves against the wall. Of course, with just 12 more working days left for Congress before the August break, I do not have much hope that Congress will pass much of anything.

All of this non-action could have been avoided if who I consider the dumbest Speaker of the House EVER, would finally have his party in Congress 'do something' and pass some bills.

Site Chosen for the Republican National Convention

Just as an update, for the last several years the Republicans have held their National Convention in states that for whatever reason, they can't seem to win. Case in point, here are a few of the Conventions held throughout the years for the Republicans....

2012 Republican Convention - Florida

In the general election in 2012, they lost Florida

2008 Republican Convention - Minnesota

In the general election in 2008, they lost Minnesota

2004 Republican Convention - New York

In the general election in 2004, they lost New York

2000 Republican Convention - Pennsylvania

In the general election in 2000, they lost Pennsylvania

1996 Republican Convention - California

In the general election in 1996, they lost California

Ok, do you see a trend when it comes the the RNC and the state where it is held.

So these facts beg the question, is the RNC going to continue to pick states in which they loose the state during the general election for 2016? You would think that they have learned from their past. But just guess what they did!

The answer is YES, as they most likely will loose the Convention state and then loose the election. The Republicans cannot loose Ohio in the general election and expect to win the Presidency. In all previous general elections, whoever looses Ohio, looses the election. Yesterday, the Republican National Committee has announced that they picked the very blue state of Ohio for the Republican Convention. Are they serious? The answer again is YES. The Republican party Convention Committee has turned down the Republican Caucus in Texas. Obviously, that has infuriated the Republicans in Texas. The RNC seems to be determined to win a state that has almost always been dominated in the presidential election by Democrats. As a liberal TV commentator stated on the show, regardless of how much money is spent in Cleveland to promote the Convention, regardless on how much of a spectacle it turns out to be, when the Republicans wake up every morning to greet the new day, they will be in hostile territory, Cleveland Ohio, instead of friendly territory, Dallas, Texas.

The decisions like this one makes no sense to the Democrats. There has been a standing agreement between both parties that one party will not interfere with the other party in the state which they have chosen. The Republicans have decided to choose Cleveland, so the Democrats will not consider Cleveland for the Democratic National Convention this year. The Democrats were eyeing closely the idea of having their convention in Cleveland in 2016.

In contrast, the Democrats have won 5 out of the last 6 states where they have held their convention. Here are those results....

2012 Democratic Convention - Charlotte, North Carolina

In the general election in 2012 they LOST North Carolina

2008 Democratic Convention - Denver, Colorado

In the general election in 2008 they WON Colorado

2004 Democratic Convention - Boston, Massachusetts

In the general election in 2004 they WON Massachusetts

2000 Democratic Convention - Los Angeles, California

In the general election in 2000 they WON California

1996 Democratic Convention - Chicago, Illinois

In the general election in 1996 they WON Illinois

1992 Democratic Convention - New York, New York

In the general election in 1992 they WON New York

Ironically, there is rumor spreading that the Democrats may now choose Texas, namely Dallas as their city of choice now. Is this a good idea? I'm having some reservation in determining if it actually is a good thing for Democrats. Will they start the same loosing trend, as they did loose North Carolina in the last general election? What really would upset the Republicans would be if they ran their convention in Ohio, and did not win the state, and the Democrats ran their convention in Texas and then they won their state. The Republicans believe that bringing the Republican Convention to Cleveland may bring the voters in that state to swing to the Republican party. Are they serious? These voters are UNION people, and everyone knows that the Republicans HATE unions. Similarly, do the Republicans understand that the Ohio Union people HATE Republicans? This is just one example why the Republicans should not hold their convention in Ohio.

As far as Democrats, I equally wonder if it would be a good idea for them to have their convention in Texas. This state has been almost totally RED as far as voting goes in Presidential elections. But with a Republican leader in Texas, namely Rick Perry no longer running for Governor, and with Wendy Davis running for Governor in the first Gubernatorial election since 1990, she actually has a fairly good chance to win.  She happens to be running against State Attorney General Greg Abbot, who appears to be out of tune with present issues facing Texans. There are so many issues, that it would take another article to explain them.

The exact date for the Republican Convention should be published soon, along with the Democratic selection for their convention, along with a date for it. I will publish that information here when it becomes available.

Great job Republicans!! With this smart move snubbing your nose in liberal territory, you may have to now wait until 2020 to even think you can get a Republican in the White House, especially if your failure to win states continues. Just guessing, but where will they hold their convention in 2020? My guess, either California or New York. This seems reasonable due to their long standing record in picking a state that always votes again them in the general election.

Sue The President, Really?

Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Recently, most following politics have heard that John Boehner claims that he plans to sue the President for the overuse of executive orders. Actually, the announcement has stirred Democratic supporters, as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has reported that it has raised over 2.5 million dollars in just 6 days after John Boehner's announcement to sue President Obama. The new donor role is also growing for President Obama. Over 30,000 first time donors have now come on board with the President. Why do you think that so many people are now supporting the President? My guess is that they are sick and tired of the games that Republicans play and the manufactured scandals of the GOP. Instead of trying to find jobs for the millions of people without work, the GOP is dropping lawsuits against the President, who wants to find jobs for the unemployed, and provide unemployment insurance benefits for the jobless.
Actually the President is trying to do his job, but because of a 'Do nothing Congress', absolutely nothing seems to be getting done. With two more years to go in his Presidency, The GOP has already labeled him a 'Lame Duck' president. The Democrats are saying that enough is enough regarding the lawsuit, but as ridiculous as it sounds, the Republicans are moving forward with the suit anyway. The Republicans say that the President is reining in too much power, much more than the Constitution granted him. They are calling President Obama 'a king' as he is reinstating the concept of the "Imperial Presidency". The lawsuit has only emboldened President Obama. The President has been traveling the country, and daring the Republicans to 'bring it on'. As he said in one of his speeches. The President is loving this lawsuit, and he makes the following comments in one of his speeches.

"I might have said in the heat of the moment during one of these debates, I want to raise the minimum wage so sue me when I do, but I didn't think that they were going to take it literally. If House Republicans are really concerned about me, taking too many executive actions, the best solution to that is passing bills. Pass a bill, it's not crazy. It's not socialism. You know it's not the imperial presidency. No laws are broken. SO SUE ME. As long as they are doing nothin', I'm not going to apologize for trying to do something."

This lawsuit is nothing more that a political gift, handed to him by the Republicans, by them sticking with the lawsuit. If the GOP thinks this is something, wait and see what will happen if the Senate is taken over by the GOP. Then they will say that he is overusing his right to institute a 'VETO'. If a Republican controlled Congress decides to tear apart ObamaCare, you just know that President Obama WILL USE his veto powers. All this is energizing the left, as the people feel that the solution to the gridlock in Washington is for the Congress to legislate, not to sue, and this underscores that this is a 'Do Nothing Congress'.  So how ridiculous is it that the Republicans are going against Barack Obama for the misuse of Executive Orders? Actually President Obama has used far less than George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and many other Presidents. All that the lawsuit shows is the desperation that the Republicans have to go after Barack Obama.
What is actually happening here is that the Republicans are very off base and making a political mistake by this lawsuit. Now let's look at some facts. During the same time-frame in his Presidency, President George W. Bush executed 211 Executive Orders, while President Obama only issued 180 and now former Bush officials are accusing President Obama for overreaching?! The fact even goes further to say that Obama has created far less executive orders to date than ANY previous President since Grover Cleveland, over a hundred years ago.
President Barack Obama actually has been seeking to rein in some of the Presidents political power by giving Congress every chance to act on the issues that they need to act on, but they fail to act at all. When asked why the Congress is the least productive Congress in history, the Leader of the House John Boehner claims that this is what their job is and that they are doing their job. So is this what we hired the members of Congress to do, to do NOTHING? And this same Congress has the gull to believe that they are going to be re-elected. They may just get re-elected and win over the Senate in 2014, but their actions and this attitude will not reign in a Republican President in 2016.  Just be ready. When Hilary Clinton announces that she is running again for president, my new blogs located at http://www.clintoninthewhitehouse.com and http://www.hilaryinthewhitehouse.com will become active.
In my opinion, a lawsuit should be issued against the Congress for congressional malpractice, namely against specific  Republicans who vote with bias and who refuse to pass bills, and are not doing their jobs, who refuse to act on the will of the people that they say they are serving. They refuse to address the critical issues, like raising the minimum wage, extending unemployment benefits, or fixing roads and bridges and even immigration. All of these issues if presented on the floor of the House would pass, but people like John Boehner will not even let the bills reach the floor. Why? Because he knows they would pass, and the President would look good. This is nothing more than a classic case of Republican Obstructionism. The last thing the Republicans want to do is to make the President look good. They would rather do what they believe in and smear the President every chance they get, instead of doing what the people overwhelmingly want.  Infrastructure projects have never seen partisan before. Congress from both side of the isles previously supported it. Millions of people need jobs, and millions have no means to support themselves because the Congress fails to extend unemployment insurance benefits to the people who are looking for jobs and are out of work do to no fault of their own. But still, Congress has time to go through a lawsuit against the President, one who supports the American people, someone who has been fighting for them in every step, regardless of where his popularity lies. Instead, they elect to not renew unemployment insurance and it is now OK for people not to be able to pay their bills.  The President is for the people, and the Congress is for themselves. They really don't care about anyone except themselves, and the '1 percent'.
So where again will this lawsuit go? I believe nowhere and is considered just a gimmick by many, because most courts do not even want to entertain this kind of a lawsuit. The lawsuit is just another stall tactic, as is the continued Benghazi trial, but they do not have time to address the issue of guns and taking care of a problem that is responsible for so many children deaths at an elementary school not too long ago. The Republican GOP will not get to the work that they actually need to do. Do you notice that not much is being said about Obamacare these days by the GOP?! They changed their tune and now it's about the Export-Import banks.  Why, because they actually have a chance to kill something by just doing nothing, and then they feel that they will be successful.
Presently, this lawsuit is nothing. It is just a press release, but the further that they push this as many Republicans are now cringing at the thought that the lawsuit may become a reality, it will then further excite the Democratic base to support the President and more people will be pulled away from the Conservative base. This lawsuit is a trick, to get their base to support them, in spite of the fact that they, the Republican House, have nothing to offer, not with jobs, health insurance, immigration and anything else that the Democrats support.

What Really May Happen if Republicans Take Over the Senate

Sunday, July 6, 2014

In a recent article, I argued the fact that if the Republicans were to take over the Senate, that not much would change. After reading up on the matter, I have decided that for the most part I was very wrong. It is a fact that the Republicans have been visiting this thought in an attempt to know exactly what they plan to do if they do gain control of the Senate.

Woman would be hard hit to say the least, as there may be a federal law that would ban almost all abortions after 20 weeks. There would be a big push to de-fund parts of ObamaCare. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) may take a hit, along with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau which was orchestrated by Elizabeth Warren. There are other things that they will not elect to do, as one of them letting a Supreme Court seat sit vacant until after the next presidential election.

A steady stream of legislation will now pour out of the House of Representatives for President Barack Obama to sign. Most likely he will then start to veto bills essentially for the first time in his presidency. Don't expect the Benghazi investigations to go away any time soon, especially if the Republicans gain back the Senate. On the contrary, they will step up the investigations and make life allot harder for Hillary Clinton.

Republicans are speculative that they will be able to take control of the Senate, due to the fact of the lack of popularity of President Obama. Polls show that Republicans vote far more often than Democrats. With Republicans also trying to suppress voting in Democratic areas of the country, unless the Democrats wake-up and start attending the polls, then they will loose the Senate this year. In 2010, the start reality set in that the House was lost to Republicans, and now it may just happen to the Senate just 4 years after the House was lost to Republicans.

In my opinion, I feel that this notion that the Republicans will win the Senate this year is not true. Of course, only time will tell, but it is extremely important that as many voters show up to vote in this mid term election as possible. I had just moved and I renewed my registration as a Democrat. I made sure that I have a voting card and will have id's to make sure that I can enter my polling place, no matter where the Governor of Texas moves it. The Democrats need to gain an attitude if they are going to keep their party in Congress this year.

Republican Next Business after Failing to Kill ObamaCare - Kill Export-Import Banks

In the news this week, there has been headlines of Export-Import banks. Well, that's a new one on me. So what is an Export-Import bank? The reason why it has been in the headlines is because it is one of the most important Republican fights in years. Some of the stories about the banks attempt to say what the state of conservatism may be. Actually, this bank has been around since the 'New Deal' times, when folks were trying to dig themselves out of the 'Great Depression'.

The job of this bank/agency is to support U.S. exports. Sometimes it gives loans to foreign buyers so that they can purchase American goods, sometimes by protecting people that give those loans just in case they are not paid back. So if it does so much good, then why are people fighting over it right now? The first and foremost reason is that the 'Tea Party' is against it, and they want this organization to go. Their case is that since this bank seems to give loans to some companies and not necessarily to others, they may dictate on which companies may thrive, and which ones will fail.  This bank will only exist unless the Senate authorizes it. The renewal for the Export-Import banks is up for renewal this fall, so the extreme right wing/Tea party, is going to try and take advantage of the expiration date and do whatever it takes to kill the bank. Paul Ryan, Ron Paul and others are in favor of this bank to fail. Even the new House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is against the bank, as he states on his first interview on Fox News that the private sector can do it, and the Federal Government needs to keep their hands out.

Kevin McCarthy will take every opportunity possible to show his party that he is less moderate than the guy that he replaced, Eric Cantor. Eric Cantor was a champion of the Export-Import bank, so this is just a taste of how left wing Kevin McCarthy is and how he plans to work as the new House Majority Leader.
The Republicans were actually dealt a blow when Eric Cantor lost his election to Keven McCarthy. Because Eric Cantor is gone, the chances of Congress to even take an immigration bill up on the floor this year is not going to happen. This alone will further define the Republicans as the party who will not support any new immigration policy, one which the majority of Americans support, including a large majority of Republicans. But the just a few of the Republicans who have power now control the fate of Immigration, at least until President Obama makes legislation on his own, without the Congress.

So what is potentially to happen here, is that Congress will do it's usually business of 'doing nothing'. By doing nothing when the charter must be removed, will effectively kill the bank. What about the thousands upon thousands of people who work for the Export-Import bank. For them, they would immediately loose their jobs, which would not look good to any member of Congress. But the tea party, looking to gain momentum and strength in the eyes of Republicans, are determined to fight and do what it takes to close these banks.

Again, things like this is exactly the reason that the Republicans must fix their own party before they would have a chance to win the Presidency again. Everything the Republican party does now a days, the people that they support do not support them.

What Happens If and When the Senate is Again Controlled by Republicans

Many Republican representatives believe that the U.S. Senate will be Republican controlled this year in 2014. Let's for one moment, say that the Republicans are correct, and that the Senate will now be under Republican control. Does this mean that ObamaCare is doomed, or that President Obama will be kicked out of office?

The Answer is NO. The Congress will try and make changes to the healthcare law as it stands at the moment, but the President has the power to veto the legislation, and I can guarantee you that he will do so if the Republicans present ANY legislation that would harm the bill. The best chance in changing the law would be in 2016, if a Republican president were elected. At the moment, there are not many Republicans that would qualify to become President, even though the Republican primaries will be full of contestants, who inevitably will talk down each other in an attempt to become the front runner. They will not be mindful of what the party in-fighting will accomplish. It would make them more combative among themselves, fueled by the ideology from the Tea Party, which I believe to be one of the main reasons that President Obama was re-elected in 2012. Yes, the Congress will try to impeach him.

Now that I think a little more on who may be a qualified candidate as a Republican to run against the presumed Democratic Nominee, Hilary Clinton, would be a man named Mike Pence, who is the newly elected Governor of Indiana. he became Governor in 2013, but has been on the Hill for 3 terms as Congressman. He does not consider himself an insider, and in some regard, I can agree to this because I do not believe that he liked being in Congress. I do not believe that he necessarily believed in exactly what the
Republican or Tea Party believes in, although he still represents the Republican party in Indiana. He is very successful in Indiana. He has already solved the fiscal crisis in Indiana, as he has balanced the budget. He has welcomed Medicaid in the state, even though he was staunchly against it in Congress. What he has going for him is that he is promoting the will of the people, who wanted Medicaid. If you ask him directly, he may still say that he is against it, but he is willing to do the will of the people of Indiana. This kind of candidate should be welcome by the Republican Party, and unless they support an candidate like him, they will loose again in 2016. In my opinion, he is rapidly becoming a person who qualifies to become a candidate for the Republican party. Will the Tea Party support him? Only time will tell. I'm not even sure that he will run, but thinking about possible candidates that could run against Hilary in which the party may have a chance to defeat her, just a few Republican candidates come to mind, and at the top of my list is Mike Pence. My choice used to be the Governor of New Jersey, and now, his name is not even worth mentioning. For his
party, Mike Pence will be good representation, but when it comes to the general election in 2016, I hardly doubt that he would stand a chance against Hilary. The Republican party is not choosing sides by the people, and I think Mike Pence has the greatest chance to cross party lines and get Democrats to believe in him, and some of them to cross their party to vote Republican. Still he would have a difficult time in convincing Latino's and woman to vote for him. I've said before, that in order for the Republicans to win the Presidential election in 2016, they would have to win over the Latinos and women voters. I hardly see that happening now.

I will go out on a limb now and make a bold statement. If Hilary Clinton runs for president, she will become the Democratic nominee, and will become the first woman president of the United States. I am stating this fact even before she announces that she will run, but I believe that all Republicans and Democrats alive believe that she will run. I have so much faith that she will run, that I've purchased a few new URL's to continue to write about the 45th President Of the United States during her tenure. When she starts her run as president, I will activate http://www.clintoninthewhitehouse.com and http://www.hilaryinthewhitehouse.com. Several other Urls, .NET, .ORG will also be redirected to the new website.

The Democratic movement will live on, regardless of who is presiding in Congress. I will continue to write articles about the next Democratic President. Many tend to forget that President Bill Clinton balanced the budget when the Republicans had control of the entire Congress. At least then, the Congress supported what was right, and there was honest debate on the issues, unlike what is happening today. The 'DO NOTHING' Congress of today is the least productive Congress of all time, so I really wonder why they even could make a statement that they will gain majority control in the Senate this year. All of the issues that they do not support is energizing constituents of the opposing Democratic office holders and there is expected to be a record turnout in Democratic voters in November, even with the Republic party trying to suppress the vote. They know that this may be the only means that the Republicans can win the White House.

Immigration Issue Heating Up - HomeLand Security Buses Blocked in Murrieta California

Last Tuesday, Homeland Security tried to transport undocumented immigrants from Texas to Southern California. What occurred in Murrieta, California turned out to resurrect the immigrant issue in the United States. Protesters in that city blocked buses containing the immigrants, so they had to be rerouted to another facility 80 miles away. At the barricade location in Murrieta, there were also supporters for the immigrants located on the other side of the street. There were barricades put up by local police to keep the two sides apart. On Friday, Homeland Security again tried to transport illegal immigrants through Murrietta, but people supporting the immigrants, along with other who did not support them, decided to fight. About a half a dozen people were arrested.
Besides the serious human implications that the traffic blockades produced, it also produced serious political implications. Opponents of immigration blame President Obama for his implementation of the deferred action program, which allowed many undocumented children to remain in this country. The opponents of President Obama and immigration reform have decided to take a hard line stand, against any possibility of allowing immigration reform to occur.
President Obama has decided, and has announced that if Congress cannot get their act together and address the immigration issue, the President decided that he will do so himself. The President plans to enact legislation on his own concerning immigration later this summer, after his advisers tell him exactly what he has the power to do concerning immigration.  He is taking Executive action only when there are serious problems to be addressed, but the Congress chooses to do nothing. President Obama states that the failure of House Republicans to pass an immigration bill is bad for U.S. security, bad for the U.S. economy and bad for the future of the United States. The President also says that he does not prefer to take Executive action, but if Congress fails to do their job, which they have done time and time again, then the President will act. President Obama who rather see permanent fixes to the problems that we have in this country, but he constantly sees a Republican party, namely the House of Representatives, that hardly act like they are representing anyone, except their own one-sided political agenda that they so obviously display day in and day out. The facts are clear. If there is a bill that President Obama would support, then the House Republicans will not support it, and will stop it in its tracks.
The House Republicans have been very successful in doing just that. That is why they have now gained the name "DO NOTHING CONGRESS". They will not act on anything that the President supports, even if it affects their own constituents or harms the country.
The President is very in favor of Bi-Partisan legislation to pass the House and Senate, but if Congress fails to act, then he will. Let's face it. The truth is, that President Obama is not a very popular person right now. He has always taken the difficult roads to challenge, but people fail to realize that no one is more capable to handle the issues of this country better than President Obama. But the Congress fails time and time again to do what is right. All that the Senate has to do is create a bill that can be sent to President Obama's desk, and he will sign it. President Obama knows that he must revise his liberal thinking to convince the conservative movement that he is willing to at least come half way on the issues, but in retrospect, President Obama does not see the Conservative moment doing the same thing. The Republicans, dominated in turmoil that is being spewed by the far left wing 'Tea party', are now destroying their own movement, and their own chances to put a Republican in the White House in 2016.

Supreme Court Decision Against the Rights of Women

Saturday, July 5, 2014

Just within the last week, the Supreme Court made a decision that in effect gave a company called 'Hobby Lobby' the right to discriminate against women. It effectively killed health insurance rights for women in this country. The Democrats are expected to take further political action in Congress to refute the ruling, but most likely it will go nowhere.  This company - Hobby Lobby, which is privately held, have owners that have strong religious convictions against abortion. The high court ruled that they can now refuse to pay for certain forms of birth control, such as birth control pills or IUD's, which they regard as immoral. This sort of decision should be made between a woman and her doctor, not by an Art's and Craft's company, or by owners of a company that employs women. This company is denying women that work for them the rights that other women working for other companies still have. So it now appears that company's such as Hobby Lobby now have a right to tell women that the company that they work for does not have to supply birth control means to them. So to reiterate here, a company that employs woman now has the right to tell women that they must purchase their own forms of birth control, and that they do not have the right as other women working in other company's to have birth control products available through their employer. This 5-4 decision within the Supreme court was not supported by any of the female members of the high court. The Court contains 9 members, six men and three women. The vote was 5-4 against women and for Hobby Lobby. All three women on the high court voted against Hobby Lobby, but Hobby Lobby won their case anyway.  Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg lead the argument for the dissenters of the decision. There are dozens of companies that believe that they also should not provide 'abortion devices' to their employees. This decision is expected to ripple through many companies, and now thanks to the Supreme Court who is now making contraception decisions for women, are now responsible for women loosing their rights to protect themselves against unwanted pregnancy through affordable means. Let's make this clear. The editor of this blog does not support the killing of unborn children, but this editor does believe in the rights of woman to make their own decisions for their own bodies. The decision by the court appears to be a miscarriage of justice towards women.
With this one decision which is also supported by the Republican base, is a very damaging one, first, to the rights of women, and second, to the future of the Republican Party. In my opinion, more and more women voters will now jump ship from the Republicans and join the Democratic ranks. The Republicans refuse to support the causes of women, and and other minorities such as Latino's. The fact is, the Republicans have no chance in hell to win the presidency without the vote from women AND Latino's. If the Democrats hold the Senate majority this year, the Republicans again most likely will have another six years to go before seeing any Conservative member of their party, or the Tea Party residing in the White House. By that time, the way the conservative movement is desenting amongst themselves along with the extremist right wing Tea Party smothering them, they will be very hard pressed to become occupants of the White House in the near future. Pending the outcome of the election for President in 2016, they may not even be a Republican party in existence for the next election in 2020.

Vladimir Putin Wants to Kill Tensions with President Obama

Back in March of this year, Russia annexed Ukraine's Crimea region despite condemnation from the West. To make it even more difficult, troops amassed along the border with Ukraine which led to heightened tensions between the Russia and the United States. Still, after just a few months, Russian President Vladimir Putin communicates with President Obama in an effort to bring better ties between the two Super-powers. Does he not realize that he was just kicked out of the G7, and will have no more involvement with future decisions made by other super powers?! Why would President Obama communicate with him now?
Will President Obama cave-in to Vladimir's wishes? I hardly doubt it. The Russian President never considered the desires of the President when he decided to invade Crimea and annex the land regardless of any treaties signed in the past. The Russian President knows that no country, including the United States would opt to start a war with them. President Obama is not interested this time to make decisions with Vladimir Putin.
In a very calculated decision by Russia, the invasion of Crimea was held off until the end of the winter Olympics held in Russia, in which the United States participated in. If Vladimir was to have a successful Olympics in his country, the world would have to see the United States involved in the competition. There is now no chance to even think that the United States would ever attend the Olympics again in Russia, after what they have done to Crimea.
Vladimr Putin wants to rekindle a relationship with the United States, thinking only a few months would kill the tension between the two countries. In a CNN article, "the White House gave a muted response to Putin's gesture". Maybe Putin believes that if he is nice enough, the United States and the European Union would cut some slack on their economic sanctions on Russian individuals and companies.
President Obama most likely will not cave in to Vladimir Putin's wishes. The Russian President has the gull to even think that the President would make an about face and side with him. In retrospect, I believe that President Obama may pose more sanctions against Russia for illegally annexing Crimea to Russia. How ignorant is Russia to think that Obama would ever side with them regarding any issue they wanted to be part of at this point.
