Day Four - The 2008 Democratic National Convention 8-28-2008

Friday, August 29, 2008

The Big Night at the 2008 Democratic Presidential Convention started with a speeck by Al Gore, and ended with a big bang with acceptance speech by 47 year old Barack Obama as the Democratic Presidential nominee at Invesco Field in Denver. Barack Obama spoke for nearly an hour to over 80,000 people anxious to hear his voice. A majority of the people who witnessed history in the making as Barack has now become the very first black Presidential nominee, showed tears of joy. The goal was to unify the Democratic party in a campaign to defeat the Republican Presumptive nominee for President, Senator John McCain. From a variety of polls, Barack's Convention has become effective in countering the efforts of John McCain, as the Republican party now has their job cut out for rebuttal of Barack Obama and Joe Biden on all the issues that Barack now claims he will address as President.
At the same time, John McCain published a TV commercial congratulating Barack Obama and almost portrayed himself as a supporter in the ad. But looking more closely, McCain is just giving the respect to his competition on his big night, but vows to start his campaign tomorrow.
As a sideline story that will become a major story sometime on Monday evening, is the approach of Tropical Storm Gustav, which is now located over Jamaica. Shortly, it is expected to turn into a catagory 1 hurricane by 2PM on Friday with 80 MPH winds, a category 2 hurricane by 2PM on Saturday with 100 MPH winds, and a category 3 hurricane by 2PM on Sunday. It should continue on its path to Reach New Orleans as a category 3 hurricane on Monday evening with 115 MPH winds. At this moment in time, the Governor of Louisiana and the Mayor of New Orleans are planning a total evacuation of the city and surrounding communities, especially along the coastal waters of the state.
Another area that was hit pretty hard during hurricane Katrina 3 years ago is Casino alley near Biloxi Mississippi. Most certain to be substantial damage to occur during the Republic National Convention, it is expected that the Convention timetable will be disrupted as either McCain and/or President Bush will most likely travel to the gulf coast, in an attempt to not repeat the mistakes by the Republican Party 3 years ago during hurricane Katrina.
It has been rumored that the Democratic Party nominee Barack Obama will also travel to New Orleans, in an attempt to take away from center stage, John McCain's efforts to make right what George Bush did wrong.
Nineteen months ago, Barack Obama started his quest as president, but it culminated during the final event of the 2008 Democratic Convention with a strong speech by Barack Obama, one that many Republic politicians would never expect he could deliver, but at this time, during the most important speak of his life, Barack Obama came through for all of his supporters and the Democratic Party.

Day Three - The 2008 Democratic National Convention 8-27-2008

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Barack Obama can now claim unity by the Democrats after the great speech of President Clinton, who overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama in his speech on Day 3. The Clinton's have now openly done everything they could do to try and bring together the Democratic party. During the nomination process on the floor, Hillary Clinton herself stopped the floor roll call for collecting votes between herself and Barack Obama, and asked everyone at the convention to take an audible vote to accept Barack as the Democratic nominee which was done so unanimously. Following this nomination, Joe Biden was then formally accepted as the Democratic Vice-Presidential Nominee.
After a speech by the 2004 Democratic Nominee John Kerry, the gloves came off with the speech of Joe Biden on the 3rd day of the Democratic Convention after his formal nomination as Vice President for Barack Obama. Introduced by his son, he attacked the John McCain policies as he claims that John plans to follow in the footsteps of President Bush. Joe claims that President Bush has failed this country, and now is not the time to continue the Republican process for the next four years. John McCain has previously claimed all along that Barack Obama has the lack of experience needed for becoming a President of the United States, but Joe Biden fired back in his speech that John McCain lacks judgment, but also showed his own foreign policy experience.
After Joe Biden's speech, Barack Obama surprisingly came out unannounced to congratulate Joe Biden.
On Thursday, day 4, Barack Obama will be the featured speaker and will take place at Invesco Field in front 80,000 people. Also mentioned, the rumor had it that John McCain has chosen his nominee for Vice-President. The actual announcement most likely come out on Friday at noon.
After the convention, Obama and his wife Michelle will go back out on the road and campaign, this time with the presence of Bill and Hillary Clinton along with Joe Biden. Their goal will be to take back supporters from some key states that McCain would normally win in the election and defeat McCain in the general election. In the United States, Election Day for federal offices occurs on the Tuesday following the first Monday of November. That makes November 4, 2008 the day that the United States will elect a new President.
Several people have asked me for my opinion as to whom I feel should be elected President of the United States. Interestingly enough, my wife Gigi and I disagree on our choice. She claims that John McCain is her choice, and I say that Barack Obama is my choice.
As a footnote to all of this, not even related to the election, my wife and I will be celebrating our marriage in the Catholic Church the following Saturday November 8, 2008. So for us, allot is happening in November. At the end of the month of course will be Thanksgiving and the start of the Christmas season.

Day Two - The 2008 Democratic National Convention 8-26-2008

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

Two prime time speakers at the Convention prior to the big event of the evening being the appearance of Hillary Clinton, were West Virginia's Governor Joe Manchin and Ohio's Governor Ted Strickland.
After witnessing Senator Ted Kennedy and Michelle Obama on day 1, you might think that something really great needs to happen to top Day 1 at the Convention.
Everyone there at the convention in Denver, and people throughout the world were watching as it turned into one of the highest rated prime time acts on television. The theme of the evening definitely centered around themes concerning the the economy, energy, health care and jobs.
But the highlight of the evening came with the introduction of Senator Hillary Clinton by Chelsea Clinton. An interactive video and transcript of Hillary Clinton's speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention is now available at Read the transcript of her speech while watching the video. Instantly go to a specific moment in her speech that sparked your interest by just selecting your favorite topic within her speech.
Day 3, will be highlighted with President Clinton, and Obama's running mate Joe Biden. It will be interesting to hear the proceedings on day 3, as the main topics that you will hear about are national security and foreign policy, two subjects that people claim are weeknesses of Barack Obama.

Day One - The 2008 Democratic National Convention 8-25-2008

Monday, August 25, 2008

Michelle Obama - The name and the highlight of Day One of the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver Colorado. Wow. No other word can express her speech at this event that commenced less than 1 hour ago than that simple 3 letter word. She in her own right outwardly explained to the nation Barack Obama's thirst to help people and the events in their lives that they both took to make their thirst for change a reality. Now, through the grace of God, they may be given the opportunity together to lead this country through change. Another speaker, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts who is fighting for his own life with brain cancer, could not be kept away, introduced by Carolyn Kennedy and drew the first tears from the spectators who listened to his speech very intently. Before the night ended, just when you thought no more tears could be shed, Michelle Obama appeared, and while giving her speech, the tears roled out again, and again. Day One at the 2008 Democratic Convention came to an end with the daughters of Michelle and Barack as they appeared on stage, and just as you thought the event was finished, the man himself, Barack appeared on the big screen on live satellite from Kansas City watching the festivities. He was cheered by the crowd and spoke to his wife and daughters in a very touching moment at the convention. Day two of the Denver Convention will be the arrival of Senator Hillary Clinton as she will speak and try to unite her supporters together to support the Democatic nominee for President, Barack Obama.

Barack Obama chooses Joe Biden as his Running-Mate

Saturday, August 23, 2008

Everywhere in the news today the announcement by Barack Obama has been made that he has selected his Vice-presidential running mate, Mr. Joseph Biden of Delaware. Born in November of 1942, and now presently serving his 6th consecutive term in the U.S. Senate. Ratification of Obama's selection of Joe Biden will take place during the Democratic National Convention in Denver Colorado during the week of 8/25/08.
Presently as he holds a Senate Congressional Seat in the 110th U.S. Congress, he is the Committee Chairman on Foreign Relations, Sub-committee Chairman on crime and drugs, and co-chairman of the Caucus on International Narcotics Control. His resume 'on the hill' in Washington contains a total 36 years of service in the U.S. Senate.
Unlike Barack Obama, he controversially voted for the Iraq war. But in a speech made directly in front of John McCain during a debate on the binding Iraq-withdrawal bill that would require George Bush to withdraw troops, he ripped the GOP for the bad policy and bad leadership that he claims looses wars. He claims that we went to war unnecessarily and ill equipped and that the "President of the United States has harmed harmed us" and it is time to bring the troops home.
Along with Barack Obama naming Joe Biden as his running mate in the news story by Tom Baldwin in Denver for TimesOnline, you can watch the video below of the Joe Biden Speech in the U.S. Senate as he rips the GOP on the war policies.

With the video above highlighting a speech in the U.S. Senate, it appears that Barack Obama has chosen a highly qualified man to serve as his Vice-President, and holds the credentials needed to step in as acting President if Barack Obama was unable to fulfill his duties as President of the United States.
In another poll, do you feel that Barack Obama has named the correct man for the #2 position as Vice-President? You can find this poll along side the presently running poll about John McCain and Barack Obama.

John McCain vs. Barack Obama for President

Friday, August 1, 2008

Who would have ever thought that John McCain, a famous war hero born on August 29, 1936 would be a candidate for President of the United States for the Republican Party in 2008. But he is the candidate.
Who would have ever thought that Barrack Obama, a new Senator from Illinois born on August 4th, 1961, a black man would be running for President of the United States for the Democratic Party in 2008. But he is the candidate.

They are as opposite as their skin, white and black and are pretty different in many other ways.

Did you know that John McCain has never owned a personal computer, let alone doesn't even know how to use one. Back in his lively adult days, say 30 years ago, back in 1978 when he was already 42 years old then, the computer age was just coming into being. Now he is 71, shortly to become 72 years old, and openly admits not knowing how to run a computer, but qualified to run as President of the United States. If he is elected, he may be running for his second term in the year of 2012 at the age of 76 years of age, approximately 100 years after the Titanic sank.

Barrack Obama is very technically minded, computer literate and sports a Blackberry that he constantly uses in his campaign and daily life. He will be 47 on his next birthday. As witnessed by browsing his campaign web site, Barrack truly understands the technical age we now live in.

Did you know that John McCain retired from the US Navy as a Captain in 1981 and became a U.S. Senator in 1986 and lost his bid to the White House by our current President George W. Bush in the year 2000. Political enemies back in those days, both Bush and McCain are now good friends and President Bush fully supports John McCain mainly because he doesn't have a choice. John is the presumptive Republican Party nominee whether George Bush likes it or not. How ironic that now John McCain has the support of our President, but is it really healthy for him to stand next to a President that could and most likely will be the reason why he will loose the election to a black man in 2008.

Did you know that Barrack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii. Did you know that his mother was white? Did you know that he studied law at Harvard University beginning in 1988, worked as a civil rights organizer and practiced as a civil rights attorney in Illinois, then the U.S. State Legislature from 1997-2004. He delivered a brilliant keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004. Another stark contrast between Barrack Obama and John McCain is that Barrack never served in the Armed Forces.

Did you know that John McCain once stated that if necessary, he would be willing to keep our forces in Iraq "for the next 100 years".
How about Barrack Obama stating that he plans to "bring all of the troops home in 15 months".
