New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson withdrawals his nomination to become Commerce Secretary for Barack Obama
Sunday, January 4, 2009
In a strange twist, today New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is withdrawing his nomination to be Commerce Secretary for Barack Obama. He has elected to do this because he has been sited in a Federal Investigation about a California company with municipal bond business in New Mexico in which Richardson was involved in. Because the investigation is going to take up to a month to complete, he believes that he needs to do whatever he must, not to hinder his confirmation process. It is terrible timing, as Barack Obama does not need any more distractions, starting with the Illinois Governor and now his own selection for Commerce Secretary. Immediately ahead for Obama is his meeting in Washington after he relocates there by tomorrow, to work on his economic stimulus plan along with meeting with all of the living former Presidents of the United States. Watch the video below as he explains his actions to be removed for consideration as Obama's Commerce Secretary.
