Inaugural Day Celebrations parallel 1st Exective order for Guantanamo
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
The celebration continues, as President Obama and First Lady Michelle are dancing the night away at 10 inaugural balls throughout the city of Washington, D.C., and expected to be out on the town until sometime around 3 AM. As people enjoy their historic night on the town, President Obama has executed his first executive order after becoming President. He has now suspended prosecutions at the Guantanamo facility for 120 days.
If anyone would think that he would fail to act as he sees fit as President, this act for Guantanamo is just the beginning. Today is a historical day, but history will be made many times over as Barack Obama performs his job as President of the United States.
Watching the crowd of people who attended the historical festivites, you can see people who are in awe and overjoyed with happiness to see Barack Obama, the first black man to become the Chief Executive and Commander in Chief of the United States. All you seen were smiles and tears of happiness.
Everyone witnessed an inaugural speech that was very powerful with words, but at the same time, you can observe that President Obama purposely left out words or lines that would become famous. As he has repeatedly stated, in a humble way he claims that his election as President is not about him, but it is about the people. He will not become famous for words alone. He will become famous by his actions as President.
He started his work by implementing a very successful transition of power. The people he has chosen to advise him and help him run the government were in place and ready to begin their jobs at 12:01PM, the exact time Obama became President. Although the oath of office was taken around 12:15PM, George Bush's term ended promptly at 12:01PM, therefore Barack was already President before he took the oath of office.
