Historic Trip on a Train from Philadelphia to Washington DC
Sunday, January 18, 2009
A historic trip on a train took place yesterday, a 137 mile trip from Philadelphia to Washington, DC. In the past, Abraham Lincoln made the same trip, as Barack Obama wanted to re-live the experience of the late President. The train contained both the President-Elect Obama and the Vice-President-Elect Joe Biden. Approximately 40,000 people lined the tracks throughout the entire route. A total of 41 people on the 'Obama Express' became part of history and there will be stories to tell in the future. In my lifetime, I'm trying to remember a President who has been embraced by so many people before taking office. Maybe the closest would be that of the popularity of President John F. Kennedy, but especially during the upcoming inauguration, when hundreds of thousands of people will witness history being made. In the wake of the 'miracle on the Hudson', where every passenger of a crashed airliner survived without any major injury, the country is continuing to celebrate even before the day that Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States.
