Arab Nations arrive in New York in attempt to bring a Cease Fire in the Middle East
Monday, January 5, 2009
The United States this past weekend in an emergency session at the United Nations Security Council failed to agree with other countries in what it would take to stop the battling between Israel and Palestine. It appeared at that time that Hamas would not stop firing missiles at Israel, thus the reason why the United States should not stop their aggressiveness towards Palestine. In another meeting, Arab nations were represented in New York on Monday on "the eve of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas" according to CNN in an address to the U.N. Security Council, with the main purpose of drafting a resolution to pursue a cease fire in Gaza.
The United States will not agree to any cease fire resolution unless both sides are willing to do stop using their weapons for an indefinite period of time. The United States wants negotiations as at this point in time, that may be the only thing that would stop the confrontation.
Regardless of what resolution the Arab leaders come up with to bring peace to the region, unless Hamas and Jerusalem agree to drop arms, then the fighting will continue.
