Obama Will Not Attend the Super Bowl - Vowed to Attend if Chicago Was In It
Friday, January 28, 2011
President Obama did hope to attend the Super Bowl this year, but only if the Chicago Bears made it there. But they didn't, so he will not be attending the Super Bowl this year. If he did attend, he would have been the very first sitting President to ever attend one. Security would be an issue, and I'm not sure that he would attend even if he said he would. Media coverage of such an event would overshadow other events up to the actual game day. While visiting Green Bay recently, he mentioned that he was disappointed in the outcome, when the Packers beat the Bears. But if the Packers win this year, he may have no choice than to see the team. As a tradition, the winning team usually takes a trip to the White House to meet the President. This is what Green Bay Packer defensive back Charles Woodson is hoping for. On another note, it is expected that President Obama will support the Packer opponents this year. President Obama has supported the Steelers in the past and may also do it again this year, although he hasn't come up front with his pick as of yet. His anti-stance regarding the Packers is what the Steelers Nation has so far from President Obama.
