Barack Obama - The Writer in his Early Political Career
Thursday, January 20, 2011
Barack Obama practiced being a writer long before his successful polical run as Senator and then for President. He published his first book called "Dreams From My Father," centered around his life story, centered around his white mother, his childhood in Honolulu, Hawaii and Jakarta, Indonesia. The first magazine to put Obama on its cover was one called N'Digo. As a very outward type of person, he would approach people and ask them to read his book. Then with his second book, "Audacity of Hope", sales went through the roof, and he became a two-time Grammy-winning millionaire front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination at age 46. President Obama first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show when he was still a Senator, and four months later he announced that he was running for president. He shifted his interests from journal and book writing to politics and eventually became the 44th President of the United States.
