Pentagon lifts media ban on photos of war dead - Guess Who Initiated the Ban?

Saturday, February 28, 2009

Yesterday, The Pentagon rescinded a long standing ban to photograph the coffins of the returning war dead. Now families have a say-so to choose which news organizations may photograph the arrivals of their loved ones.
You might wonder why photographs have been prohibited. Two words describe the reason. GEORGE BUSH. He inforced the band since 1991, which would not allow the pictures of troops kiled in Iraq and Afghanistan from appearing in the news coverage.  Now, the family of the fallen soldier has the right to make that decision.
The ban seemed very odd to me. President Bush would take young service men and women and put them into harms way. As to his defense, they were defending our country. But then, after the ultimate price is paid with a soldiers life, he didn't give the family the right to show the pictures of their loved ones from appearing on TV.
Who was he trying to protect here? What was he trying to hide? It appears that he was trying to protect himself, and trying to hide the ever gaining personal tragedies of families that were paying the ultimate price for George Bush's reckless invasion of Iraq.
In a saying from New Orleans, 'It's not over until the fat lady sings', is something that George Bush may have to realize if in the future he may be tried for war crimes. With his actions as President, he may be tried especially for the known torture that took place in the military as he acted as the commander and chief of the U.S. armed forces. But don't be so surprised if Obama and Bush have already struck up the deal for Obama to grant Mr. Bush a pardon, if some indictment appears trying to name Mr. Bush with incompetency as President. Now that Bush is no longer acting President, of course that means that he cannot face impeachment, but he will forever receive criticism about his actions as president.
The idea that George Bush would not allow the wishes families of fallen troops should be considered a disgrace by a President.
