National Poll on Obama's Speech
Tuesday, February 24, 2009
The polls have started, and it appears that in a national poll, at least 66% of the people that watched Obama's address to a joint session of Congress had a positive reaction of the speech. A vast majority of the people taking the poll claim that they are more optimistic now on the direction of the country, and a minority of people polled seem to think his speech has made them more pessimistic. Also, in a very favorable response, nearly 85% of the people who watched the speech also support the economic recovery plan. It will be interesting to see how the stock markets react to the speech, along with the conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh stated publically in a report that he wanted Obama to fail. But is seems highly unlikely after listening to the Obama speech to Congress and the nation, that regardless of what Rush says, at this point will not make any difference.
The delivery of the speech was what was expected. It was very substantive, full of information and facts to support his theories behind the economic stimulus bill. Noone seems to be able to deliver such a speech more elloquently than Barack Obama. He definitly has the gift of communication and the skills to get his ideas out to the people. He seems to be redefining the term 'Communication President' to go along with his other two titles, 'The Economic President' or 'the depression President.' One of these titles will depict his legacy.
