Obama to visit Egypt and Germany in June
Saturday, May 9, 2009
President Obama will be traveling to Egypt and deliver a speech on June 4, 2009 that will touch on America's relationship with the Muslim world. Past administrations would have swayed away from such a trip, as the President President of Egypt, President Hosni Mubarak shows resistance to making his government more democratic. The first Muslim majority nation to receive a speech from Barack Obama was Turkey on April 6, 2009. During that speech he told the Turkish legislature in Ankara that the "United States is not and will never be at war with Islam."
From Egypt, President Obama plans to journey to Dresden, Germany the next day. He will participate in the 65th anniversary of the World War II Allied landings in Normandy, France.
