President-Elect Barack Obama decided to call the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Saturday. Barack just won't stay still, as he disgussed issues concerning violence in Gaza, which left over 200 people dead according to aids to CNN. It appears that Israel has been pounding targets in Gaza, aimed against Palestinian militants who continuesly plague southern Israel with rocket attacks.
Another pledge by Obama, to make the Middle East peace process a priority right from the time he takes office. During the election, he vowed to back Israel and people are looking forward in seeing if he keeps his promises. Lately, he has made a few, and he appears to be more than ready to begin his journey. People who became involved in the election who voted for Barack Obama for President may have too high of expectations of his administration. His campaign was centered around 'hope', and that is just what so many people are doing now. But right now, both Palestine and Israel are not ready to make political decisions to create common ground in their principles, and until they come to grips with each other and mutually want peace, there is not much President Elect Obama can do in the Mid-East. So it will be extremely interesting to see how he attempts to bridge the gap between Israel and Palestine.
