Barack Obama and former Vice-President Al Gore meet in Person
Tuesday, December 9, 2008
President-Elect Barack Obama and former Vice President Al Gore met in Chicage today to exchange ideas on the environment. Obama believes that his ideas are key in helping figure out the nation's struggling economy recovery plan. Along with Vice President-Elect Joe Biden, the three people sat down to figure out a way to get the economy jump started. One of the first things Obama mentioned was 'green jobs' could help the economy and help create jobs. Former Vice-President Al Gore who worked with Bill Clinton, shared ideas about global warming and came to the conclusion that global warming besides being a problem is also an opportunity that we must take to help resolve issues.
It appears now that the meeting between Obama and Gore was not to offer the former Vice President a job in the new administration.
Unfortunate to the American people, Al Gore lost the 2000 Presidential election to George Bush in such a close race, that the Supreme Court had the job of determining the outcome. We could only wonder what could have happened during the last 8 years if Gore was President. As most already know, Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 and won an Academy Award the same year for his documentary called "an Inconvenient Truth".
Obama's ideas, which also include the use of alternative energies and "green" technologies wants to use his proposed economic stimulas package to develope these technologies.
During the election, former vice-president Al Gore suppored Obama's nomination when Obama won the long primary battle with Hillary Clinton.
