An Economic Stimulas package around the corner? How about the Cost?
Sunday, December 14, 2008
As since he has done since his election, Obama stays hard at work laying down the ground floor to his ideas that he hopes will turn into reality when he becomes President in a little over a month. He plans on meeting with his economic team to work on an economic stimulus package that may cost somewhere between $500 billion to $700 billion dollars over a two year time frame. The bill if passed will be one of the first that he will sign soon after the beginning of his presidency. Also slated are funds for infrastructure projects, aid to local and state governments, cuts for the middle class, and money to fill in the gaps for food stamps and Medicaid. Because of the failing economy, President-Elect Obama doesn't have much time to turn things around. Some critics think that he will be acting too soon, as do the Conservatives, who now believe that Barack Obama will continue to spiral the Federal deficit deeper into the ground. But is there another way to get out of this? If there is, no one has come forward with it. Again, let's give Barack some room, and some credit for what he wants to do, and let's make sure that we criticism him for what he does, both good and bad. I don't think that there will be much room for criticism for what he doesn't attempt to do, because it appears now that he will not be ignoring any issues. Ultimately it will the Congress who will pass or reject the bills if they are to become the law of the land. The congress that works with the 44th President of the United States should be the busiest in U.S. history.
