Uneasy Days for Toyota - 2nd Recall with Gas Pedal Issues
Thursday, January 21, 2010
In one of the biggest recalls in history, Toyota Motor Sales USA is recalling 2.3 million vehicles because of a sticky gas pedal problem. This is a similar recall that has been in effect for over 4.3 million vehicles, where the gas pedal can become stuck under a loose floor mat. So why the new recall if there is already a known problem with the gas pedal? It has been discovered that the gas pedal when depressed may not return in its fully upright position when the gas pedal is no longer depressed. most likely, in most cars, this problem has been caught in time, because this situation would most likely show up on worn gas pedal parts. Never the less, it has been found, and I would highly recommend that all owners involved with the recall immediately schedule their car to be sent to the shop so that any issues can be resolved. The dealership will notify the customers that are at risk. This is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately, so just in case you get the recall notice or know your car can be at risk, then it is highly advisable to get the vehicle checked out.
The vehicles covered under the recall are:
2009-2010 Toyota Rav4, Corolla, Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2008-2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 20078-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia..
The Camry Hybrid is not included in the recall.
