No Florida Vacation this Time - Crist and Obama
Friday, January 29, 2010
Yesterday, just a day after the President gave his first state of the Union speech, President Obama flew down to Florida on a few stops to help promote his agenda. When he arrived in Florida, this time it was not to go on an Orlando vacation.
He met the Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist who is a Republican. This time, he wasn't greeted with open arms by the governor, because recently he took a beating from his Republican primary opponent, Marco Rubio, because he embraced the President during a trip when Obama was pressing for the stimulus package last year. Never the less, Governor Crist greeted the President on the tarmac, in a gesture of respect and as it was the proper thing to do. Vice President Biden did not fly with President Obama to Florida, but he arrived in time to take pictures with the President and the Governor.
All that the Governor did here was to meet the President, regardless of which political party in a sign of respect. But it is definitely the likes of Marco Rubio, a strongly professed conservative to criticize another member of his own party in the way that he does, mainly for political gain.
