Bad Weather in D.C. Area
Tuesday, February 9, 2010
The thought of global warming took a backseat on Monday, as it appears that the Congress in Washington got another break by getting a day off today because of another grueling snow storm that hit the D.C. area on Monday. Anywhere from 10-20 more inches of snow fell in different areas of Maryland, Virginia and the D.C. area. The recent snow fall broke a January 7-8, 1996 record of 23.2 inches. Weather patterns are extremely unusual throughout the country as the grounds a particularly wetter this winter than normal. The northeast United States has been hit with one snow storm after another, and February being usually a good month promising snow, there should be no drought in the spring. As an example, a record of 32.4 inches of snow fell on the Dulles International Airport in D.C. over the last two days, and still another five more inches are expected in the Washington-Baltimore areas.
