A list of Candidate to Replace Supreme Court Justice - John Paul Stevens

On Friday, April 9th, the senior most Supreme Court Justice, John Paul Stevens stated that he will be retiring soon. He has been serving for nearly 35 years.

Who may be considered as a replacement for Stevens? Here is a partial list of candidates...

Marrick Garland - U.S. Court of Appeals judge - received his law degree from Harvard.

Jennifer Granholm - present Governor of Michigan - previous federal prosicutor and states first female attorney general.

Eric Holder - present Attorney General of the United States.

Elena Kagan - U.S. solicitor general - fights for the federal government in the Supreme Court.

Martha Minow - present deen of Harvard Law School, teaching since 1981 Nominated in August 2009 she was nominated by President Obama to serve on the board of the Legal Services Corporation.
She is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
Janet Napolitano - present secretary of the Department of Homeland Security since January 2009.

Devel Patrick - Governor of Massachusetts. Previously was assistant attorney general for civil right under President Clinton.

Sidney Thomas - present judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. He earned his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law.

Elizabeth Warren - Presently a Harvard Law School Professor and chairwoman of the Congressional Oversight panel.

Ann Claire Williams - appointed to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Chicago in 1999 by President Clinton. She earned her degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Diane Wood - presently a judge on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Chicago. She received her law degree from the University of Texas in Ausin.
