Senator Elizabeth Warren dressed in red |
As Congressional Senators within both houses of Congress approved their leaders for the next Congress, Mitch McConnell for Senate and John Boehner again as Speaker of the House, the Democratic Caucus admits that they also need new leadership, to confront such right wing ideas that now will be pouring out of the House and Senate.
There is now a new leadership role in place in the Senate, namely with a Senator from Massachusetts - Elizabeth Warren. She will act as an informal liaison to the party's liberal base, a job that was just newly created.
So it now appears that the Republicans in the Senate, starting with Mitch McConnell, will not only have to put up with the minority leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Harry Reid who has also been confirmed, but also will have to put up with the likes of Senator Elizabeth Warren, who plans to drive home liberal ideas in the Senate. This will also help prepare her for a possible 2016 Presidential run if she were to decide to change her mind. She has already stated that she does not plan to run for President of the United States, but many are hoping that she may change her mind as she definitely will become front and center with every Senate vote until the 2016 Presidential election.
