Veto Pen 'FRESH WITH INK' as Republicans try to create laws without Executive Branch Approvals

Friday, November 14, 2014

President Obama is returning from his Asian trip on Sunday. He will be facing several issues that have risen since he was gone for just a short time. To head up this list is the Alaskan Pipeline, a resolution to be taken today, Friday November 14th, 2014, that is fully expected to pass the House and then expected to pass the 'lame duck' Senate on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. By now, President Obama has pulled out his veto pen from his desk, and loading it up with fresh ink, as he is fully expected to veto this bill sometime next week.
While away on his trip, President Obama has come to a historical agreement with China, regarding air pollution, and the implementation of controls that will affect both the United States and China. The Speaker of the House Elect Senator Mitch McConnell, is now threatening the President along with the Speaker of the House John Boehner, that they will make it difficult for President Obama if he implements the laws as agreed with China, but again, this agreement is proof that President Obama, a lame duck President, plans to stay as active as possible during his last two years in office. He plans to force the 'do nothing' Congress to now pass laws, since they now own Congress with the upcoming Senate now to be in Republican control. The Congress now will run out of reasons why they are not passing bills, not just for the mere fact that they do not like President Obama, and that they will do EVERYTHING in their power to not pass legislation, even if it were to hurt the country, just so that the President will not receive any credit for them as President.
President Obama, as promised since June of this year to act on immigration on his own, if the Congress cannot get their act together and pass a bill to at a minimum, legalize illegal immigrants, those who now have been born in this country and has family here with them. The Republican Caucus is totally against this plan, and John Boehner has stated publicly, just a day after the mid-term elections that the President will "poison the well", indicating that the Congress will work totally against him in the remainder of his term as President if he takes Executive action regarding immigration.
Let me ask all who read this blog. Does anyone think for a moment that President Obama is scared of the 'do nothing Congress'. They themselves do not have a leg to stand on, as historically, they will be known as the least productive Congress of the United States since the beginning a Congress, hundreds of years ago. The Republican Caucus is now threatening 'IMPEACHMENT' if the President acts. In other words, if he proceeds to do what he lawfully has the ability to do, just because they do not want him to do it, they are not only going to introduce impeachment, but they will also implement a 'second lawsuit' against him. By the way, the first lawsuit still has not gone forward.
Is impeachment of the President what the main Republican body wants to do. I do not believe so, but again the far 'right-wing', known as the 'tea party', will force the Republicans to act, which will definitely hurt them in 2016 for an election for the next President. If this was not enough for the start of the new Republican controlled Congress, members are now tossing around the idea of a 'government shutdown', as money needed to be acquired and made available to keep it running will be needed next month. A bill will have to be passed to do just that. Are the Republicans capable of passing a bill to fund the government before they go on recess for the holidays. They only have just a few weeks total of scheduled work for the rest of this month and December before they are gone until the new Congress convenes in January, 2015.
The outlook of the new Congress is very haunting to say the least, but now it will be up them to actually save their own Republican party, but if history is going to repeat itself, they will not do what is right. They will continue to do what they think is best for them, and not what is best for their constituents, and again, they will not only loose the Presidential race in 2016, but they will also loose control of the Republican controlled Senate in 2016.
Then, do you think they will finally wake up and do what the people want?  Even then, I still do not think that they will be capable to change direction, as long as the 'tea party' has so much effect on the mainstream Republican party. Until the Republicans can pull in support from immigrants, from Mexican decent, to include women and blacks, the right wing of government will NEVER see another Republican President.

Proposed Bi-Partisan Immigration Bill

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

The Senators in Washington haven't had much luck lately on getting bills passed. It seems so difficult for them to agree on anything, and then pass legislation that is truly supported on both sides of the isle. The bills usually just pass by a few votes if it passes at all. Never does it seem that both political parties agree on much of anything, especially the legislation that they are bidding to put into law.
The topic now floating around in Washington that seems to be of interest of both parties is the topic of immigration reform. Does anyone think that this Congress has any ability to do some real good as far as immigration. Yet, it deserves a mention here. This may be as far as it gets in Congress.
Eight Senators devised and released a comprehensive immigration reform plan that they say will stop illegal immigration. It also address approximately 11 million immigrants who are now in the country illegally. Imagine, 11 million immigrants. Because it is not practical to have all of these illegal immigrants go back to where they came from at once, mostly from Mexico, there must be a way to systematically work with illegal immigrants. Some of them have illegal parents, but the offspring were born in America. Is it right to deport anyone who was born in this country, whether their parents were illegal or not? It wasn't their choice to be born here, but they may have already been here going into their adult lives. They haven't been able to legally contribute to society, because they haven't even had the ability to hold a Social Security Card so that they can work legally. They deserve a shot to become legal citizens if they are willing to go about what it takes to become legal. If not, and if they do not take advantage of doing what it takes to become a legal citizen by a certain period of time, then they truly need to be deported. Some illegal aliens that have been born here and lived in this country their whole lives and are the first to be considered for legal immigration and possible citizenship and should have to take easier steps to reach their goal.
My opinion here obviously is not the opinion of every citizen of this country, and I'm sure that there is a good portion of people that disagree with my reasoning, especially the mainstream conservative party.
Still the bi-partisan group of Senators now have devised a bill that the Congress must consider to more forward.
Still, I have no faith in the present Congress. If their desire is to shoot down every bill that is thought of by a Democratic senator, then not much will get passed in President Obama's second term in office.
One of the reasons why bills did not get passed in the past was because of the elections of 2010. The Democrats lost control of the Senate. Now just about every time the vote gets close in the Senate, and even in many cases where the majority of Senators agrees on a bill, a filibuster is introduced and the bill still does not pass. So truthfully now with the present Congress, I see no way that the Congress will ever pass ANY type of immigration legislation. If it passes, I will present an article with details from the bill as it will then stand.

2013 Has Arrived... What's next for the New Year!

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

President Obama, obviously disappointed with no compromise from the House Senators, has to wait still another day to attempt to work on the Fiscal Cliff issues. The President has decided not to leave Washington because of all the work left over to do. With this said, the Senators from the House have decided to recess for another day, even in light that the Senate now has a legislation ready for the House to vote on. So, as expected, the New Year does not bring anything new to the country, except that now that the Bush tax cuts have expired, and the Republicans do not have to vote to raise them as now they go up automatically. Now they will blame President Obama for the raises. When the House is in session again, I don't expect that the legislation presented to them by the Senate will pass.
Even so, the business at hand in the White House must go on. With the new Congress and a beginning of his second term in office, President Obama made statements about his priorities for the next four years. Presently, there are four priorities, namely immigration, the economy, energy and debt reduction.
Obama plans to attack the broken immigration system by introducing new legislation to have it fixed in this new year. As the President stated, "We have talked about it long enough," He said. "we know how we can fix it." Along with this the President wants to fix America's infrastructure. As the President said, "If we are putting people back to work, rebuilding our roads, our bridges, our schools, in part paid for by some of these broader long-term deficit reduction measures that need to take place, that will grow our economy."
Another avenue of growth will be to address a further increase in the amount of energy that America produces, and green energy is at the top of his list. As he stated, "We are producing more energy and America can become an energy exporter. (The question is) how do we do that in a way that also deals with the environmental challenges that we also have at the same time."
But everything leads back to the present issue at hand, and most things that he wants to fix is dependent on the outcome, the outcome of the fiscal cliff. How do you begin to grow and do what is needed to succeed, as he says, "It is going to be very had for the economy to sustain its current growth trends if suddenly we have a huge bite taken off the average American's paycheck," he said.
