Republican Race for President Imploding

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Newt Gingrich
OUT!
and he doesn't even know it yet!

As a Democrat as I look into the Republican primary race for President, it seems to be an unbelievable surprise, as many of the presumed front running candidates have either dropped out of the race, and in the case of Newt Gingrich, he has been an embarrassment to his party, in what MSNBC claims of his incessant "flip-flopping" on the issues. He preached all of the wrong things in a "Meet the Press" interview recently that would capture the hearts of his party. Instead, the mainstream Republican party has been publicly denouncing this candidate. It appears as if his candidacy has ended even before it has begun. Maybe it's for the best.

Mike Huckabee
OUT!
The second candidate, the one I expected to get into the race who would have the desire to fight and become the Republican candidate for President in 2012 is Mike Huckabee. If I were a Republican and supported conservative principles, I would seriously support Mike Huckabee. Unfortunately, he has publicly come out to announce that his heart is just not in the race this year.He does not have the fire to run. Maybe it's because of the millions of dollars that he lost the last time around when he lost the Republican nomination to John McCain. Maybe it's because he's trying to regain some of that money back by his successful talk show. I do not know of anyone, including the Republican nominee of 2008 besides Mike Huckabee that had a candid desire to try and overtake any odds.

Donald Trump
OUT!
The third candidate, Donald Trump, has been a real noise maker, but in his own right has sparked the Republican party in an attempt to smother President Obama regarding the birth certificate issue. What he did was take precious time away from what his party should have been doing in the first place, and that is to discuss the issues, the ones that would elect their candidate over Barack Obama. That did not happen. Instead, he was proven wrong by the President, as Barack Obama came up with his long form birth certificate issued from the State of Hawaii. The formal announcement about Obama's birth certificate eventually shut up Donald Trump, but he still had an era of a candidate for President in him, as he mentioned more than just a few times that he was exploring his possibilities. At the end, he decided to drop out of the race, most likely because he could never raise the kinds of money that Mitt Romney has in the past and can do now if he had decided to run. His ultimate excuse for not running was that he claimed that his heart is in business as he considers himself a business mogul. But as far as I'm concerned, Donald Trump never was going to announce his candidacy for President. It was just a big show, like "The Apprentice".

Mitt Romney
 MOST LIKELY CANDIDATE!
The fourth candidate, Mitt Romney, now seems to have the clear road to the nomination, but is considered a flawed front trunner for the nomination. He made a big splash yesterday in his Las Vegas Call-a-Thon, in which he raised $10.25 million, so it is a clear warning to the Republicans that he is the one to beat. Even with that said, he is not really loved by the Republican electorate.  But unfortunately for him, he actually did something great which the Republicans despise by the way, and that was to implement his health care bill in Massachusetts. Actually, I applaud him for that. At the present time, he appears to be the clear and only front-runner for the Republican party. Now he even has a chance to win the Iowa caucuses. Regardless, the race is still wide open, as the process that is effecting the republican party is a normal turn of events during the discovery process in any political election.

Sarah Palin
Wont Run!! or
Should not run!
Michelle Bachmann
Running

Worth mentioning may be Sarah Palin, who may think at the present time that her only opponent now for the nomination may be Mitt Romney. But guess again, as Michelle Bachmann will announce her candidacy for the Republican Presidential nomination. She has the 'tea party' support and would be one the likeliest of contenders against Mitt Romney. For her sake, now that many of the thought of 'for sure' candidates are now out, why wouldn't she go for it? She has the ability to raise money, and may do well in Iowa. She most likely would not have much problem in building herself into a national political figure. With this said, she also had some 'dirty laundry', that most likely will come out if she truly comes out and starts to campaign.

Mitch Daniels
Who Knows Him Possible Candidate!
Another possible candidate, Mitch Daniels, may be the one candidate that could be the anti-Romney candidate, and would be capable in making it a good race for the Republican ticket. But at this point in time, I do not know much about him. Future articles that will highlight all of the Republican candidates that will try and face off amongst each other to face President Obama in the major election in 2012 will be featured on this blog. Attempts will be to compare each one of the candidates policies in comparison to Barack Obama's policies. No doubt the comparison will be a very strong contrast, but it will be interesting to note the differences.

Tim Polenty
May Run! Should Run!

The dark horse candidate, Tim Polenty, who has the establishment support, and has high social conservative credentials, may be the number one anti-Romney candidate, but I sincerely believe that he will not be nominated by his party to run against Obama. He will not be able to raise the funds that Romney can, and he is not as well known, even now right before his possible announcement as a Presidential candidate for the Republican primary.

Jon Huntsman, Jr.

                                              Very Likely Candidate!

Jon Huntsman, Jr, a US diplomat, is a former United States Ambassador to China and he previously served as the 16th Governor of Utah from 2005 until August 11, 2009. when he resigned during his second term in office to become Ambassador to China.
It has been widely speculated that Huntsman will seek the Republican nomination, and he has a better chance to do so than Mitch Daniels, who does not have the support from his family to run. Daniels's wife and children are encouraging him NOT to run.

Ron Paul
Not a Chance Candidate!

Now for the 'wanna-be' President,  presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul. He has previously run twice for President, once in 1988, and another in 2008, without success. Out of all the Republican candidates,  he has been the one candidate that has openly voiced his opinion against how President Obama conducted the operations to capture and kill Osama bin Laden. He claims that America could have done it differently in the attempt to capture Bin Laden. He believes that the states should have the right to legalize heroin if they so desire. He is totally opposite to some of his parties main issues, such as foreign policy, domestic policy, and social policy. For me, it would be better that he run as an independent, because just his presence in the race would hurt his own party.

Who Will Run Against Barack Obama from the GOP in 2012? Are Jobs Still a Major Factor for the Elections?

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

It will take several months for the Republicans, including Donald Trump, to finally realize that the long form birth certificate provided by the State of Hawaii is actually valid. The birth certificate issue will undoubtedly make major headlines in newspapers and stories on conservative  radio and TV stations.  The discovery will  give talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh something to talk about. It's another distraction.  In the mean time, valuable time will be taken off of the clock, time that they desperately need to actually bring up a valid case for a contender to actually run against President Barack Obama.
What is now interesting here is to find out what will be the next major story presented by the GOP or Donald Trump for that matter. Will it be substantive enough to become a major story that can effect President Obama's re-election. Everyone knows that President Barack Obama is running for re-election, but with just 17 months to go, we still do not have a clue who the Republican contender is for President.
According the the Economic Policy Journal, Mike Huckabee is now tied with Donald Trump as the front-runner for the GOP for President in 2012. This news is according to a CNN/Opinion Research survey.
Besides taking credit for the stories about the presidents birth certificate, what else is he talking about that may be good news for a change, something that could give Americans more hope.
Well for starters, Donald Trump is now claiming that China is "looking to strip us of everything". He is not even a presidential contender yet, but in an interview, Trump rimmed China, and OPEC, along with President Obama's Middle East policies and allot more. He openly speaks about Obama-care, oil prices, the banks, the weak dollar and American diplomats. He doesn't like the idea of the U.S. spending money in foreign countries like China and believes that we should be rebuilding here in the United States. He has proposed a tax of somewhere between 20-25% on imports from China. Wow...   Is that a little drastic or what. Everyone knows that the cost of goods these days are high, but importing goods does help spur the U.S. economy, as people like to buy goods for a lower price, mainly because they can't afford to buy stickily U.S. products that cost so much more, thanks to the de-value of the U.S. dollar.  So his answer is to make it not reasonable because of import taxes he would like to impose, for people to buy imported goods from China. So what would this really do to the economy. First and foremost, it would cause U.S. prices to rise up higher than people could afford, and ultimately would cause people to save their money instead of spending it. Purchasing power of the people would drop, and the U.S. Dollar would continue to drop. Eliminating imports from major  economic countries like China and Japan is not the answer. What Donald Trump doesn't seem to understand as a business mogul that he turned out to be, is that this country needs both, to be able to import and to export goods. This is how job creation becomes a certainty. It is true that importing goods instead of creating them locally in this country may not contribute to a faster growth of the job market, but it will spur the economy in a faster fashion, and would further push people into spending money that would in turn bring up the economy. This should be a lesson that Donald Trump has learned, as stated earlier as he is a successful business mogul. Unfortunately his rules do not apply when it comes to running a government. The U.S. government was never ran and will never be run like a Donald Trump business.  This  is more reason why the GOP needs to not support Donald Trump as their candidate, and more reason that they need to get a valid contender, not Mike Huckabee or Sarah Palin, or Newt Gingrich. Maybe their only chance would be Mitt Romney, but it is still uncertain if he plans to run.

CPAC Concluded, poll conducted shows Ron Paul the Republican Choice for Candidate against Obama

Saturday, February 12, 2011

To me, it's just a wish in the wind, as Republicans demonstate their choice in a CPAC starw poll. Who's the winner?  Who else but Texas Rep. Ron Paul with 30% of the vote. Second in line was Former Massachusetts Gove. Mitt Romney with 23%. How about the rest of the potential candidates that we know? In short, here's the complete list as reported by CNN in Washington...

Texas Rep. Ron Paul: 30 percent
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney: 23 percent
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson: 6 percent
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: 6 percent
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich: 5 percent
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty: 4 percent
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann: 4 percent
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels: 4 percent
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: 3 percent
Former talk show host Herman Cain: 2 percent
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: 2 percent
Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum: 2 percent
South Dakota Sen. John Thune: 2 percent
U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman: 1 percent
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour: 1 percent
Others: 5 percent
Undecided: 1 percent

Notice the disparity from Mitt Romney and down the list. Everyone that you would think has a shot at Mitt Romney is rated at 6% or lower. Of course this straw poll only consisted of 3,742 ballots in this annual survey, but this at least can give you an idea as to whom may run. The only issue here is that none of the parties involved here have stated that they will run, and another not listed who is seriously considering running against Obama is Donald Trump who is not in the list.
So there is still allot of confusion with whom may run, but the fact is that some of these people will come out of their shells and make the announcement. What will follow into the Republican process to choose a candidate to run against Barack Obama will be a show by Republicans to show exactly what they are made up of, and their abilities to cut their own throats as they try to emerge above everyone else. This, is the  process, but to me it seems a waste of time, especially the primary elections that will take up so much air time and the real character of each candidate will come out to be either attacked and destroyed for the world to watch, or to be hailed and eventually a winner to emerge to run against Barack Obama.
This is assuming that President Barack Obama will run for re-election in 2012. Most Democrats speculate that he will run, but until President Obama states the fact, it still is just a guess. Much of his decision will depend on how he feels he is doing for the country, and if he has a continued chance to market his ideas with the American people. It is the guess of the author of this blog that President Obama will be willing to run against any competitor that decides to run.
