Christine Quinn beating Anthony Weiner in NYC Mayor Polls
Thursday, July 25, 2013
Christine Quinn, is now ahead in the polls as the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City. It is not surprising that she has now taken the lead from the disgraced ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner, after allegations resurfaced concerning his sexual conduct with strangers, even after he left Congress. What people may not know about the Speaker of the New York Council since 1999, is that she is gay. I'm not sure if there ever has been a woman acting as Mayor of NYC, but she definitely will be the first openly gay person that may win election to that office. Prior to Anthony Weiner's revelation confirming that he had another sexual venture outside of his marriage, Christine Quinn rapidly gained the lead in a poll just released today.
Politicians usually suffer the consequences when they show infidelity in their marriage. That activity outside of marriage is definitely what a role model in politics needs to display to the people.
Anthony Weiner has big dreams to return to politics and become the New York City mayor. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't stand a chance to now become the mayor.
This is not to say that Christine does not have hurdles of her own. There may be a large majority of people in the state of New York that will not vote for her because she is gay. But the major difference between Christine and Anthony is that she openly came out with the revelation of being gay, and he on the other hand only revealed his newest affair only when it became public on a website called DIRTY.com and when he decided to run for mayor. He revealed too little too late, even after the fact that his wife, who worked closely with Hilary Clinton in the past, stood by his side and supported her husband, even after he cheated on her again. This is a great opportunity for Christine Quinn to advance her career in politics and become a nationwide figure for gay people serving her constituents of New York City.
