Obama's Debate Preformance Behind Him, LOOK OUT Mitt Romney!

Monday, October 8, 2012

Obama drew criticism from Democrats last week for being what some described as listless, lethargic and ill-prepared in his match-up against Republican challenger Mitt Romney. The President even admits to it, but brushes it off. Yes, he had a bad day, and I'm sure that he had what he might have considered something more important to do for the evening, and that was to celebrate his 20th wedding aniversary with his wife, the First Lady Michelle. But he did not get to celebrate his aniversary with his wife that night, nor did he get any respect from the challenger Mitt Romney. There are 2 more Presidential debates scheduled and one Vice-Preidential debate left before the election. The controversy concerning President Obama's performance will be short lived. Yes, the President is guilty for not being prepared from a candidate that has been practicing his whole life for that moment to debate against him. The next debate, which will be in a town hall meeting setting, will be one of President Obama's best performances. The President has world recognition when it comes to his leadership around the world. His record, with ending one war in Iraq and another to follow after he gets re-elected in Afghanistan, along with his killing of the number one terrorist in the world, Osama bin-Laden, is a pretty good feather in the Presidents hat. World leaders  respect the President and most foreign leaders say that the decision is still out whether Mitt Romney will act properly on foreign policy, and will see if Romney has the unwavering ability to support or allies and countries around the world who want peace, no matter how they stood regarding democracy in the past.
Mitt Romney's answers sounded good to the listeners that evening, but for the most part lacked substance. His only claim is that since he considers himself a great businessman, he knows what it takes to get the economy back on it's feet. But no doubt, if elected, he will make promises that he can't keep. He can blame the unemployment rate on the President, he can also blame the economy on him, but the record is all that you need to look at when it comes to the President.
President Obama has backed several bills that made it through the U.S. Congress, but failed to pass, mainly because of the selfish interests of the Republicans in the House. Bills that would have brought thousands of jobs, and maybe even a million or two, were put down by a Congress set to do everything in their power to make the President look bad. Instead, they are the ones that look bad. If the President gets re-elected, you can expect several veto's come their way when it comes to bills that they sponsor. The President now has nothing to loose. He will continue to push for jobs for the middle class and build the economy, and the Republican House if still a majority body will feel the pain from the President, unless they pass some of the President's bills.
The country cannot survive another 4 years with a House and Senate divided and not capable of passing bills.
Just before the last holiday, the Congress failed to pass the 'farms bill' and then immediately decided to leave Washington for a long recess. Their jobs were not done. But they left anyway.
The most recent polls show that Mitt Romney is in a statistical dead tie with the President on most fronts, but most likely not on the ones that count. The facts are that whoever wins the State of Ohio or Florida in November most likely will win the election. No candidate that did not win Ohio has  won the Presidency. At the present time, Ohio should be won by Obama, and with all of the retirees and seniors in Florida, the Democrats will win that state too. That will make it virtually impossible for Mitt Romney to win the election if he wins either state.
So yes, the debates are important, but if Mitt Romney thinks that he will get another performance from President Obama like the last, he will be sadly mistaken. The President will be prepared, and it will be interesting to watch Romney on the defensive this go around, because if that truely becomes the case, then he will loose the debate. No doubt that Mitt Romney is an excellent speaker. His problem is that he flip-flops on the issues and in my opinion, it is now time for the President to call Romney up on the flip-flop issues, along with the outward lies that the Republicsns including Mitt Romney himself stated during the last debate.
The first debate was just a warm up. The next debate will be one for Mitt Romney to take lessons from.

Mitt Romney appears to Have Emerged as a Clear Winner in the First Presidetial Debate

Thursday, October 4, 2012

-->

The first Presidential debate is history, and all polls seem to reflect that Mitt Romney emerged as the clear winner. At least two-thirds of the people who watched the showdown witnessed a very well prepared Mitt Romney. The debate lasted 1 ½ hours, and on every front, Mitt Romney had his facts together. For the most part, President Obama also had his facts together, but did not refute Mitt Romney on issues that he could have easily. Mitt Romney was very well prepared for the debate. When the President tried to attack, Mitt Romney always came back with quick answers and seemed to be believable.
What the challenger candidate Romney did for himself was to possibly win some of the undecided voters. Some of these voters may have voted for President Obama in the last election, but again, it is only my opinion. The face-off was victorious for Mitt Romney, and I do not deny that. It was done handily, as 67% said in a CNN/ORC International survey say that Mitt Romney came up on top during this debate. The same question has been asked time and time again at the debates, but since 1984, it's the first time that the question of who won actually topped 60%. The victory is nothing less than huge. About 60% of the people polled say that President Obama did worse than expected.
Both Obama and Romney played down the first debate even before it happened. It is clear now that Mitt Romney is in it to win, and the President must step up to the challenge. Instead of going on the defensive with the statements made by Romney, Obama must go on the offensive.
In a poll taken of debate watchers, only 18% said they were more likely to vote for Obama, while 35% said they were more likely to vote for Romney. Only 10% of the people polled seem to think that Romney did worse than expected, and these were most likely supporters of Obama.
If this debate is a sign of things to come, it goes without saying that Romney found the key to success at the debates. Presently, there are 2 more Presidential debates scheduled and 1 vice-presidential debate.
Romney supports must be ecstatic with the performance of their candidate Mitt Romney. As a supporter of President Obama, and as I watched the debate in its entirety, I personally came to the conclusion that Mitt Romney won the debate.
In past elections, the debates played a huge role in determining who was to be re-elected. That may be the case this time. But even if Romney wins all of the debates, will it still be enough for him. In my opinion, I do not think so.

What to Watch For in the First Presidential Debate

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

-->

On the brink of the first presidential debate that happens to fall on the day of President Obama and Michelle's 20th wedding anniversary, speculation is running wild on what may be the key points to watch for.

Everyone knows who is the President, but will both candidates think and act presidential? If the President acts like himself, who usually acts in a very presidential way, then it should be a slam dunk for him. Actually, the pressure regarding being presidential is all on Romney. But you would think that will all the experience that he has as a prior governor of the state of Massachusetts, you would think that he may have that down too. Only time will tell. One thing is for sure. If Mitt Romney doesn't act presidential, it may be all over for him as soon as tonights debate is over. Both men, President Obama and Mitt Romney need to show composure and stature. For Obama, it should be a walk in the park, but for Romney, it's anyones guess. If either fails in this regard, it's pretty much over for the candidate that can't deliver. This will be an extremely big moment for the two candidates, as approximately 60 million people are expected to watch the debate.
My guess is that Mitt Romney is hoping that President Obama play it safe, because if he does, then he may be able to attack him on certain issues. Again, this is only my opinion, but I would believe that Mitt Romney is hoping that President Obama may also step out of the box by trying to attack him, and then the President stands the chance of not looking Presidential. Personally, again this is my own opinion, I believe that President Obama is just two smart, clever, and educated to be trapped into that type of situation. President Obama has already served in the White House for the last 4 years, and I'm certain that he truly knows the job.
If the President plays it safe, then Obama stands the chance of being dominated on the agenda and put Obama in the defensee. Again, I highly doubt that Obama will allow that to happen. It is one of the biggest moments in either man's career.
Mitt Romney is expected to attack the record of President Obama, but I also have a great feeling that President Obama can defend himself, his policies, and outline the failures of Congress which is an obvious attempt by Republicans to show that President Obama doesn't get anything done. Mitt Romney should watch himself on this front, because I feel that President Obama will also put Romney on the defensive, which will not be good for Romney, and then will loose the edge when it comes to who actually benefits more from the debate.
It is the grand stage for the contestants. For President Obama, he will have already had bigger, and so called worldly audiences and another 'walk in the park' kind of night. For Mitt, it will be the debate of his life. It can be either the beginning of his career, or may be the end of it, all in one night.
So what will the talk really be about for the evening. For the topics, they are the economy, health care, and the role of government and governing. When it comes to foreign policy and national security, that will be left for a later time, but it will be interesting if either candidate will try to include those topics in tonights debate.
In a future debate, the Libya attack most likely will be one of the topics of discussion. Mitt Romney will attack the President when it comes to Libya, but the debate format will be very important on that night Libya is discussed. If Romney is able to through out free standing questions to President Obama, it may just be a one topic night. The debate moderator hopefully will keep things under control.
One of the biggest topics to be discussed for the first debate obviously will be the economy. This subject happens to be the most central idea of Mitt Romney's campaign. He has been claiming all along that he can manage it better. But will all the trying to prove that he can, Romney has not gained any more support for his efforts, according to most polls taken since he even mentioned the word – economy. Since it is the top issue on the minds of the voters, it will be both candidates jobs to sway the audience of some 60 million people that one of them is best suited to do a better job in the next four years to fix the economy.
The President most likely will argue that the country is making progress and it's not the time to go back to failed policies of the prior Republican administration. He will also say that now is not the time to help the millionaires on Wall Street.

But for Romney, you will hear a different story. Both candidates are totally opposite in thinking when it comes to the economy. Romney claims that it is his business background, he has a better ability to be able to create jobs. Unfortunately for him, his record with Baine Capital just proves that what he actually did in the past was to put people out of work instead. I would be shocked if Baine Capital was not mentioned tonight at the debate. Romney will claim that he can do a much better job than the President has done over the past 4 years. What Romney will not mention is that it's because every opportunity that Obama had to create jobs was blocked by the Republicans in a deliberate attempt to make the President look bad. At the same time, Mitt Romney has to clearly state tonight the steps he plans to use to save the economy. The candidate that presents his argument the best concerning the economy will will the night's debate hands down.
It will be interesting to see if President Obama gets the topic of women and Latinos in the discussion tonight. Romney has pretty much dug himself into a hole when it comes to women voters or Latino voters. Obama is highly favored in this area. How can someone vow to end federal funding for Planned Parenthood even think he has a chance with women voters! In the Presidents favor, his first bill that was passed when he became President was the 'Lilly Ledbetter Fair pay Act in 2009. Romney also stated that he wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. For Romney, the woman and Hispanic vote are pretty much lost.

Second Presidential Debate - Do or Die for John McCain

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Barack Obama and John Mcain entered the second of three Presidential Debates on Tuesday October 7th. Since John McCain is now behind Barack Obama in all the polls, the one thing that the GOP nominee had to do is to deliver THE performance of his political career to possibily change the direction of the election, but it never happened. Instead Barack Obama clearly won the debate as all the polls have claimed.
Which was supposed to be a format of the debate that favored John McCain, neither candidate were very successful in using the town hall format to help express compassion for what voters are facing today. What they both accomplished is to use the debate to further highlight their positions, besides criticizing each other on their policy beliefs.
All Barack Obama had to do was to tie John McCain in the debate for him to be considered the winner. But instead, he took the debate away from McCain and won handily. Presidential debate results are overpowering in favor for Barack Obama.
For John McCain, it appears that traveling around the states now in an attempt to sway voters to come his way may be out of the question, because there really is no more time to do so.
Reporters on CNN seem to believe that what he needs to do now, especially in todays failing economy, would be to leave the campaign trail, and focus on his economy plan, and try to convince voters that his plan is better. He most likely should secure TV advertisements about the economy and his plan instead of trying to mount verbal insults to Barack Obama. Sara Palin now needs to take as little headline as possible, and to accomplish this she needs to stay out of the news. Instead, just today she was found guilty of abusing her power as Governor of Alaska in a case involving her ex-brother-in-law. Bad news for the McCain camp.
With the Economy as the number one issue on voters minds at this time, it appears that everything else should be unimportant to McCain. Less than 1 month to go in the election and it appears that Barack Obama is running away with the election. Even his supporters or so called life long Republicans now seem to believe that John McCain will loose the race.

1st Presidential Debate - Sept 26, 2008

Sunday, September 28, 2008

Presidential debates are fun to watch, especially when you have 2 charismatic personalities like John McCain and Barack Obama. View the entire debate below. Both Senators went toe to toe with questions posed from moderator Jim Lehrer of PBC concerning different issues represented throughout the evening. The 90 minute debate was supposed to be centered around foreign policy, but because of the Congressional 750 billion dollar bill President Bush is trying to get passed before the congress was supposed to goes on recess as of Friday, the debate began centered around the economy then moved on to foreign policy. Neither McCain or Obama had much to say regarding the money bailout, but did answer questions regarding the economy for the first 40 minutes of the debate.
It was stated by most commentators from CNN that John McCain had to through out a knockout punch to stay in the race. Most everyone commenting on the debate stated that John McCain did not through out the knockout punch and now he is in real danger of getting seriously behind in the polls. Most all commentators agree that it was Barack Obama who won the debate, but even if the polls would claim that both were even, that the outcome would favor Obama over McCain.
As expected, when it concerned foreign policy, the answers from McCain proved he is the experienced candidate. But at the same time, Barack Obama held his own concerning foreign policy. His knowledge concerning foreign policy was tested and anyone who doubted his knowledge and ability in this subject should now realize that Barack Obama is for real, and he has the ability to debate John McCain on any issue.
The next debate will be on October 2nd, with Sarah Palin and Joe Biden going toe to toe as the vice-presidential candidates of this election year.
On November 4th, either John McCain or Barack Obama will be elected as the next President of the United States, If you still haven't registered to vote, you have until October 4th, just 30 days before the election to get registered.
