Democrats Looking Good Going in the General Election in 2016

Sunday, October 11, 2015

With all that has been going wrong with Congress today, there may still be some light coming from the tunnel. It is true that John Boehner has announced he is retiring, and it is true that Kevin McCarthy bowed out of the race a few days ago. It is also true that the House is now trying to recruit Paul Ryan to take the job, but he doesn't want it. If he did decide to take it, that would totally eliminate any and all aspirations Paul Ryan may have to become President in the future. Also, this would mean that he would be at his job allot more, and not being with his family. Being the family man that he is, I'm sure he will put his family before the Speakership, but you never know what the Republicans can come up with to convince him to take the job. Does anyone who has a chance to get 218 votes from the U.S. Congress have any such chance to acquire the Speakership? Whoever wants it, needs to get some votes from the extreme right tea party of approximately 40 Senators, and so far, that doesn't seem to be happening. So the Republican led House of Representatives now is in total disarray, with some very important bills coming up needing a vote, and unless the House can get their act together, the U.S. Government will be shut down once again. Maybe they can convince the present speaker Boehner to stay until they can find someone that they can agree upon. Actually, he or she doesn't even have to be a U.S. Congressman at the moment. Anyone can be speaker of the House, and that person will become only 2nd in line behind the President of the United States.
So let's get back on topic, since we know that the Republican party is crumbling at the moment. Shift over to the Democrats, and you will see some very interesting stuff. The 1st Presidential debate is just a few days away, and the world is waiting to see how Hilary Clinton and her main challenger Bernie Sanders can debate. Both are excellent debaters. So that's coming, but what's real at the moment that is coming up with Congress besides the Republican nightmare that we need to know about?
Presently, the 114th U.S. Senate consists of 54 Republicans, 44 Democrats, and 2 Independent Senators, totally 100 members. What looks good for the Democrats with this said even though the Republicans control the House is that the Democrats are looking very good in the next election in 2016. They are look very good for taking the Senate back from the Republicans. The Republicans are going to have to defend allot more seats if they want to keep the majority. There are 24 Senate seats that the Republicans must defend verses only 10 Senate Seats that will be voted on in 2016. So it looks as if the Democrats have a structural advantage due to this math. For the mere fact that it will be a presidential election year, there will be a large turnout of Democrats which most always benefits the Democrats for the election of the President. Also behind the lines, the Democrats have been doing great as they have been working with the candidates that they want to run, and for the most part, all of the candidates are going to run at least in the following states - Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, and Arizona. That is a pretty large number of states in which the Democrats are getting their number one candidate to run. If that's not enough, you cannot count out North Dakota, Missouri, and West Virginia as they have persuaded 3 incumbent Senators to stay on. All the Democrats have to do is get 11 more Senators to win election in the U.S. Senate to regain control of the House. It goes without question that Nancy Pelosi will again become the Senate majority leader.
With Hilary Clinton most likely to become our next President, with the U.S. Senate taken over by the Democrats once again, you can only speculate on what is going to happen the the U.S House of Representatives. I truly believe that it will be impossible for the Democrats the regain the House, but control of the U.S. Senate would most assuredly mean that they Democrats from the U.S. Senate would control what gets sent up the the Presidents desk. The Republicans will finally on have one thing to accomplish in the U.S. Senate if they want to get anything done, and that would be to compromise with the Democrats on the issues at hand.
With all that is going on, the Congress is about to take a weeks vacation. Paul Ryan is surely going to discuss the dilemma that the Republicans have put him in concerning wanting him to take the Speakership. Hopefully, the Republican Senators will get their act together and get someone to accept the job in the House of Representatives.
One thing is a sure bet. The person who takes the job will have as equally hard time to get their House to pass any bills, because in order to get a bill up for a vote, the Repubicans are going to have to work with Democrats, and that's really will be the new Speakers downfall. The tea party has destroyed the Republican party, and it is just a shame that this scenario is playing out now just before the general elections. Actually for the Democrats wanting to gain office, it is a good thing, but what's not good is how their actions will hurt the country.

Hillary Clinton - Back to Work after Blood Clot Treatments

Hillary Clinton Back to Work

Hillary Clinton, the woman who lost her bid to run for president in 2008, has accomplished something that no other Secretary of State has done. Never mind the far fetched notion that someday she would serve under Barack Obama after running against him, but in performing her job, she has visited at least 112 countries in her 4 years of service to the President. Up to this point in time, she has had an exemplary career in her service, but one last thing that she needs to clear up is the Bengazi issue. She is to testify soon in what turned out to be a murder of 4 diplomats a few months ago.
Regardless of what ANY Democratic opposition has to say about this issue, to date there has never been a person who represented the Post of Secretary of State with such admiration, popularity and success. For the last month, she has been resting after a fall after she became dizzy and acquired a blood clot between her skull and brain. She has been taking blood thinners and has just been released from the hospital.
What's she doing now? How about going back to work. Actually, she is preparing for the Bengazi hearing where she plans to testify soon.

List of countries Hillary Clinton visited from 2009-present - NOT A COMPLETE LIST

Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Egypt, Israel, Belgium, Switzerland, Turkey, Mexico, Netherlands, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, El Salvador, Honduras, Canada, India, Thailand, Kenya, South Africa, Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Liberia, Cape Verde, UK, Ireland, Russia, Pakistan, Morocco, Germany, Singapore, Philippines, China, Afghanistan, France, Qatar, Saudi Arabia,Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Czech Republic, Estonia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Barbados, Ukraine, Poland, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Vietnam, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Australia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, Italy, Zambia, Tanzania, Ethiopia,Guatemala, Jamaica, Hungary, Lithuania, Spain, Greece, Malta, Libya, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Burma, Cote d'Ivoire, Togo, Bulgaria, Algeria, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Mongolia, Laos

Colin Powel Endorses Obama

Friday, October 26, 2012

In what may be a sign of what is to come, a prominent, 4-star U.S. Army general who also was a Secretary of State who served under the 43rd President of the United States - George W. Bush, now endorses Barack Obama for President. This is not the first time that the man, Colin Powell endorsed Obama. He voted for him during the election in 2008. So what does this all mean? To the Republicans, it is an opportunity to tell the world that Colin Powell jumped ship, and many of them are asking why he is even a Republican. So being that he has endorsed Obama before, you shouldn't be too surprised  but what you should be interested in is why he continues to support President Obama. Outright, Colin Powell states that he is a moderate Republican, but when he was asked whether he would jump sides during the interview with "CBS This Morning", Colin says that he will always be a Republican.
Powell seems to really dislike the stance of the Republicans regarding climate change, education, and immigration. He also believes that the President has a better approach and more capable of achieving his goal when it comes to fiscal balance. With that said, he also has some of his own beliefs, which seem to lean towards the left, for example he is a defender of racial preferences in college admissions and abortion rights. These ideas used to be supported by the past right wing Republican base, but lately, the base has turned very radical and leans extremely to the right.
You must wonder if most Republicans would think like Colin Powell, whether the country would be so divided as it is now. The present Congress has set history on being the one group of law creators that refuse to pass bills just because of political factions. They do not seem to be concerned about their constituents, the American people who have to live by their laws.
You must also wonder what these same Republican senators will do if the President is re-elected, and especially if the Democrats regain the majority in the house.  Will they continue to buck the President and not pass laws. It will be increasingly difficult for them to do so if they have to put up with President Obama for the next 4 years. As for the President, if he is re-elected, he will never have to worry about getting re-elected, and he will be very bold with Congress. I expect to see many veto's from this President if the present Congress fails to perform and pass legislation that is good for the people.
Less than 10 days to go, and the outcome of do-nothing Congress will become known. In 2016 if Obama is re-elected, many of the Congressional leaders who continue not to perform and do good in Congress will get replaced, and if the House is not re-gained by the Democrats this year, then in 2 years I would expect that the Democrats will clean house in 2016.
Will all this said, the Republican broadcast community support their candidate with passion. They appear so blind as to the seriousness of the problems the Republicans created. They continue to mock and put down the President, unfortunately with a great deal of disrespect for the President. Talk show hosts like Mark Levin and Sean Hannity continue to bend the truth, and broadcast a series of lies about the President and his policies will continue to try to persuade voters not to vote for Obama because of their selfish political reasons.
Just 10 days to go, and hopefully the majority of this negativity can be put to bed, and the Republicans can then focus for 2016 and 2018. Will Romney run again if not elected this time? I don't believe any candidate ever has, but that is not to say that Hillary Clinton will run for President in 2016. That would highly be unlikely, but if she doesn't run, who will become the next President in 2016. It is a fact that President Obama will not be the President in 2016.

Hillary sworn in as Secretary of State - takes over Condoleezza Rice Position

Thursday, January 22, 2009

In an inevitable act, Hillary Rodham Clinton was sworn in as the 67th Secretary of State early in the afternoon on Wednesday. The nomination was approved by a vote of 94-2. She was sworn in by D.C. appeals court Associate Judge Kathleen Oberly. The bible used belonged to her late father in a ceremony in her Senate Office.
In the vote for her confirmation, the two senators who voted against her were two Republicans, Jim DeMint of South Carolina, and David Vitter of Louisiana. After the ceremony, ex-Senator Hillary Clinton submitted her resignation from the Senate. Governor Paterson of New York wll now appoint a replacement in the Senate. Originally, Hillary Clinton was to be confirmed on Tuesday, but had an objection of Republican John Cornyn of Texas. In a statement, Cornyn said that his decision was made not because of Hillary, but because of her husband Bill Clinton, as he wanted to see more information come to surface about the foundation run by Bill Clinton. Cornyn says,My concern is not whether our colleague Sen. Clinton is qualified to be secretary of state or not. She is," Cornyn said. "But we should not let our respect for Sen. Clinton or our admiration for the many good works of the Clinton Foundation blind us to the danger of perceived conflicts of interest caused by the [foundation's] solicitation of hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign and some domestic sources," he said. "The perception and reality must be that the office of secretary of state is viewed around the world as beyond reproach."
In a supportive role, a competitor of Hillary from the Republican side of the bench, John McCain said, "I think we ought to let Sen. Clinton, who is obviously qualified and obviously will serve, get to work immediately."
It will be interesting as history will inevitabally parallel Hillary Clinton with the successes and failures of Condoleezza Rice, the prior Secretary of State who served under President Bush.
