Donald Rumsfeld - AND HE SHALL BE JUDGED

Sunday, May 17, 2009

The name Donald Rumsfeld, a man who was in charge of a corrupt and incompetent Defense Department during the Bush Administration is the next major story. It will begin and spread like wildfire from a story that begins on a post by GQ magazine. The first excerpt of the article is right here. Former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld has always answered his detractors by claiming that history will one day judge him kindly. But as he waits for that day, a new group of critics—his administration peers—are suddenly speaking out for the first time. What they’re saying? It isn’t pretty

on the morning of Thursday, April 10, 2003, Donald Rumsfeld’s Pentagon prepared a top-secret briefing for George W. Bush. This document, known as the Worldwide Intelligence Update, was a daily digest of critical military intelligence so classified that it circulated among only a handful of Pentagon leaders and the president; Rumsfeld himself often delivered it, by hand, to the White House. The briefing’s cover sheet generally featured triumphant, color images from the previous days’ war efforts: On this particular morning, it showed the statue of Saddam Hussein being pulled down in Firdos Square, a grateful Iraqi child kissing an American soldier, and jubilant crowds thronging the streets of newly liberated Baghdad. And above these images, and just below the headline secretary of defense, was a quote that may have raised some eyebrows. It came from the Bible, from the book of Psalms: “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him…To deliver their soul from death.”
This mixing of Crusades-like messaging with war imagery, which until now has not been revealed, had become routine. On March 31, a U.S. tank roared through the desert beneath a quote from Ephesians: “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” On April 7, Saddam Hussein struck a dictatorial pose, under this passage from the First Epistle of Peter: “It is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.” (To see these and more Bush-administration intelligence cover sheets, visit GQ.com’s exclusive slideshow).

Bush Administration atrocities - Will Surface with or without President Obamas blessing

Lately, I have posted several articles on torture, mainly because I am against such a thing, as it in a sense became policy by the previous Bush Administration. I started writing almost immediately when I found out that President Obama has disallowed the publication of the torture photos. Again, he claims that for national security and for the security of our troops, it is not wise to show such pictures. Honestly, there are just so many things to find out about the prior Bush administration and not just on the subject of torture. Regardless of what President Obama holds back, eventually such pictures will become public, either on a website, or through information provided to a news agency by an informant. Actually another name surfacing that may have cost American lives and compromised national security is now on the forefront of becoming news. The name Donald Rumsfeld, a man in charge of a corrupt and incompetent Defense Department will be the next major story. It will begin and spread like wildfire from a story that is supposed to be posted tomorrow by GQ magazine, on their website. As reported, Rumsfeld's monomaniacal determination to protect his Pentagon turf led him to hobble and antagonize America's most willing allies in Iraq, Britain and Australia, and even to undermine his own soldiers.
Hopefully to come out tomorrow will be the Rumsfeld cover sheet that Bush saw each and every day, depicting triumphal color photos of the war headlined by biblical quotations. Word is that GQ will be posting 11 of them, and according to Frank Rich of the New York times, they are kind of 'creepy'. Here, you have Secretary Rumsfeld, not known for ostentatious displays of piety, now cynically playing the religious angle to manipulate a president who frequently quoted the Bible.
Cover-ups ran rampant during the prior Bush Administration especially when it came to the war. As an example, it was reported that a panicky Pentagon had begun spreading its hyped, fictional account of the rescue of Pvt. Jessica Lynch on April 3, 2003 to distract from the troubling news of setbacks that surfaced just two days earlier regarding problems on the ground in Iraq.
The GQ article isn’t the only revelation of previously unknown Bush Defense Department misbehavior to emerge this month. Just two weeks ago, the Obama Pentagon revealed that a major cover-up of corruption had taken place at the Bush Pentagon on Jan. 14 of this year — just six days before Bush left office. This strange incident — reported in The Times but largely ignored by Washington correspondents preparing for their annual dinner — deserves far more attention and follow-up.
It appears as if President Obama will never get the quagmire of 8 years of the prior Bush administration behind him any time soon. New things seem to appear to surface every day, and the present administration of Obama will have no choice than to call on the prior president Bush to explain certain actions while he was the commander in chief.
