Gay Marriage - Right or Wrong

Monday, April 22, 2013

On the lighter side, besides reporting the stories as they have been so disheartening last week, I would like to just put something straight to my readers. Yes, I am a follower and supporter of President Barrack Obama, and I am the author of this Very liberal stated blog, but I must say that I do have my own beliefs, whether they are Democratically supported or Republican supported.
One such belief is my thought on marriage. As the saying goes as reminded to me by my wife Virginia, God created Adam and Eve. God did not create Adam and Steve. Yes, I am NOT a supporter of gay marriage, even though President Obama and the entire Democratic caucus as a whole now supports gay rights. But at the same time as I do not support it, doesn't mean that others who believe differently cannot practice what they believe in. Another reason I feel strongly the way that I do is because God created a man and a woman so that they could bring children into this world. Men or women for that matter who practice gay marriage ultimately may have sex with someone outside of their marriage, and may bear a child. So now this begs the question, does having an extra marital affair outside of a gay relationship that bears a child, would that be ok? As a devout Catholic, my church would never support gay marriages, let alone any right of a couple to bear a child outside of wedlock. Having ANY child out of wedlock is not the correct thing to do, by anyone's standard.
Again, as a devout supporter of President Obama, I back him up 100%, except when it comes to the issue of gay marriage. I do not support it, and never will. My Catholic Church and our new Pope, Francis I is staunchly against gay marriage.

State of the Union Speech - House Invitation by Speaker Boehner

Friday, January 11, 2013

Does it look like genuine bi-partisanship when the House Speaker John Boehner formally invites the President to deliver his State of the Union address for his new term on February 12? Hardly. Actually it's a matter of a formality, as John Boehner really has no choice other than to cooperate with the President, as the new congress must deal with the re-elected president for the next four years.
As Boehner wrote in his note to the President "Our nation continues to face immense challenges, and the American people expect us to work together in the new year to find meaningful solutions." "This will require a willingness to seek common ground as well as presidential leadership," Boehner continued. "For that reason, the Congress and the Nation would welcome an opportunity to hear your plan and specific solutions for addressing America's great challenges." Recently John Boehner stated that never again will he try to compromise on issues with the president without the pre-approved backing of the House, which means that he will never again stand on his own two feet and work with the President on issues, and self admitted that he will be a puppet and a pre-recorded voice of the House. What a 'wiss'.
This year, you can almost bet that the topics of the president's state of the Union will include topics such as gun control laws, the federal debt and sweeping immigration changes. I'm sure that it pains Boehner to allow the President to speak to his House members and to the rest of the world, as I'm sure that he and the House republicans will have a totally different agenda again this year, just as they did after the president spoke after his 1st election. They most likely will try to impede the president at every corner, at every possible time to try and push their own agenda, which always seems to have limited government at center stage. The Commander and Chief is also capable to do things on his own with his Executive powers, such as modifying gun control laws, as he has stated recently that he may do.
The president will not be going up for re-election in 2016, as the law states that the total limited time for someone in that office is two terms or 8 years. The president will never face re-election so he has nothing to loose, but then again he never was afraid to do anything in his first term.
The president supported the repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell' and supported 'gay marriage in 2012. He supports raising taxes on the rich, as he stated in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention that we need to do our fair share, meaning that the rich need to pay their fair share in taxes. All of this has to totally disgust the Republican House, knowing that they will be facing decisions that they will not want to make especially during the next few months involving fiscal cliff issues. The Republican party needs to be reinvented, and with this House Speaker in office, I hardly doubt if the Republican party will ever have a chance to win election again in 2016.

The President AFFIRMS Same Sex Marriage

Wednesday, May 9, 2012

The President of the United States, Barack Obama made history today to support equal marriage rights by becoming the first American sitting President that has openly supported same sex marriage. The President is sticking up for marriage equality, not non-equality. Of course, the Republican party, namely Mitt Romney has immediately called President Obama on the carpet for making that decision to support gay couples and gay marriage. Already there is lots of buzz about the Presidents revalation. This topic will become one of the main topics that will be talked about from now until the election.  Recently under his watch, the "Ask, Don't Tell" law that affected servicemen in the military was overturned and gays and lesbians can now serve without penalty while serving their country.
The political ramifications are huge. The president says "same sex couples should be able to get married". The President has openly stated his true feelings, the opposite of how he felt and conveyed during the 2008. So now the stakes are even higher, but President Obama is determined to do the right thing in his mind. Personally, I do not care for same sex marriages, but I also believe that people have an inherent right of their freedom to do what they like. I am proud of our President, and he has allot more guts than I ever would have. He is not afraid of the Republican politics, knowing how much his decision may infuriate them.
The President announced this just hours after North Carolina banned same sex marriages in the state. The majority of states now ban same sex marriages. The president of the United States now openly stands up for not just for straight married couples between a man and a woman, but he also supports the right to choose of same sex couples. The President is representing 'change' which has been part of his campaign from 2008 to the present.
This may be the civil right issue of our time. The President of the United States definitely has made history here.
