Ted Cruz in front of Senate for 21 hours, Stopgap funding bill passed 100-0

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Did anyone believe that a government shutdown would occur because of Ted Cruz antics, as he held the Senate floor for more than 21 hours? Actually many believed that since the ObamaCare bill and the funding bill to avert a government shutdown in six days were tied together, there was a good chance that it could happen. But today, the U.S. Senate voted 100-0 to clear a key procedural hurdle toward passing a stopgap funding bill to avert a government shutdown in six days. Senator Ted Cruz, with his filibuster-styled effort in an attempt to de-fund Obamacare ended after 21 hours, it was clear that even Ted Cruz knew that he couldn't stop a vote. Now, it looks as if a stop gap measure to keep the government funded through November 15th is in place. The facts are that the Republicans do not have enough votes in Congress to defeat Obamacare, and even if they did, President Obama would defeat their cause with a stroke of his pen. Obama will make sure that his bill takes effect on October 1st.2013.
As expected, other Republican Senators praised Cruz for his efforts, regardless of how futule they were going to be. Most Senators knew it.

After wasting 21 hours of other Senators time, Cruz voted to end the debate. This wasn't until after he talked "about the Revolutionary War, the battle against the Nazis, and reading tweets from supporters and even reciting Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham" according to an article posted today by Susan Davis and Catalina Camia on 'USA Today'.
Mr. Cruz is a potential 2016 presidential candidate, and was only elected as Senator for the State of Texas just last year. Actually after all the talking, Cruz's so called talkathon should not be considered a filibuster, because the Senate still got to vote on the measure.

Just this past March, he fellow republican Ron Paul of Kentucky protested the Obama administration's drones policy for 12 hours, 52 minutes. After all the talk, it resulted in not much of anything, except to bring attention to themselves. If you think that the Republican party would have rathered not see Ted Cruz in this rediculas waste of time, you would be correct. Many of his fellow Senators from his party were against him wasting other senators time when that fact is, there really is nothing that he or any other Senator can do at the moment.

Cruz Set to Derail His Own Party

The path to try to derail ObamaCare is running at full steam. Lead by junior Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, he has been involved in his filibuster speech in front of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday and throughout the night. He has vowed to talk "until I am no longer able to stand". The questions here is what are his real motives for doing it? Does he have any kind of chance to stop ObamaCare? The answers are pretty simple. Cruz plans to emerge as the Republican front-runner for President of the United States. The problem with this is that his own party base - the Republicans do not fully support him, and in matter of fact, they believe that his actions are hurting the Republican party. As stated in the 'Star Telegram', " "But his own party's Senate leadership is not on board. More mainstream Republicans have basically label it a fool's errand because it has virtually no chance of success and could well lead to more bad press and political disfavor for the GOP, especially if a compromise to fund the government proves elusive." He surely will have lots of competition to run for president from the Republican ticket. He himself claims to be the top Conservative of his party, but the trouble here is that his party and the Conservative base have not been seeing eye to eye these days. The party is fractured, thanks to the ideals of the tea party, whom Sara Palin, one of Cruz's biggest mentors and Tea Party favorites appears to be one the his biggest fans.
So what are her ideas regarding the actions of Cruz? As she stated on a conservative website last week, "the Senate to put itself on Cruz Control." Oh my. The Republican ticket seems to be getting in real trouble here. First Cruz doesn't stand a chance to think that his filibuster speech in front of the U.S. Senate, regardless if he vows to speak until he is unable to talk, is doomed for failure. Obamacare is law, and will become implemented in part as soon as next Tuesday, October 1st, when the insurance exchanges go live. On that day, people without jobs, people who cannot afford or is not offered affordable insurance coverage by their employees will be able to qualify for insurance. But Senator Cruz is willing to take everything as far as coverage off the table for the poor and unemployed. In my opinion, for what he is doing will mean that he will have very limited support from the Republican party, who actually plans to put someone in to represent them for president in a few years, not someone who necessarily is the top-dog of the conservative movement. The splinter of the Republicans and Conservatives is a direct result of the interference by the tea party movement. So just keep up the good work, Mr. Ted Cruz, and thanks to your interference to your own Republican party, it will be now more doubtful than ever that a Republican can win the White House the next go around, thanks to your self-inflicted caos of the Republican and conservative movements.

Trickery by Republicans to filibuster Senate vote to defund ObamaCare

Sunday, September 22, 2013

In a very recent interview with a Republican senator who actually voted for the bill that has sent to the Senate for a vote, it now seems very clear that allot of trickery is going on to push the agenda of Republican lawmakers. This Republican Senator by the name of Ted Cruz of Texas, claims that the Senate Republicans will ask the Democratic Speaker of the House, Harry Reid, if he will accept a filibuster vote on the bill that was just sent to the Senate by the House. Why? Because he already knows that the Democratic Senators control the vote in the Senate, and he knows that he and his Republican counterparts do not have what it takes to get a simple majority of the vote for the bill that is surely to fail the way that it is written now. The Democrats control 54 seats and usually supported by two independents. In the simple Senate vote, the bill doesn't stand a chance, so Senator Ted Cruz believes that he needs to force the filibuster in the Senate which would require 60 votes out of the 100 Senators in the Senate Chamber to vote for the bill for it to pass. What happens if Senator Harry Reid allows a filibuster rule on the measure and the bill still fails because most U.S. Senators in the Senate support Obamacare? What would happen would be that Mr. Ted Cruz would become the laughing stock of the Republican party.
So now you may ask why he is trying to force such a measure?!! By his actions, as he supports the appeal of Obamacare and now supports raising the budget to prevent a government shutdown, he is drawing attention to himself for a possible bid in the White House during the next Presidential election. If he is successful in his bid to get the Senate to go against HealthCare just to save a government from shutting down, he will be a hero amongst the Republicans and he will jump right up front of his Republican counterparts to become President.
What he may not know, and the vote in the Senate will confirm this, not all of the Republicans are behind him merely for that fact. Others want a chance to become President. They know how relentless he is in trying to destroy people, as he has been on the forefront in trying to turn against Barack Obama with everything that he does, that they, his fellow Republicans also know that he can show his iron fist against them during the elections, just to get the nomination for President.
The vote in the Senate will be very interesting, but even if the vote for the bill passes, it will need the signing of the President's pen to make it law, and the President just is not going to defund his own bill that is just about to become law that he fought so hard for in his first term, and continues to fight for. He will veto the bill. ObamaCare has become the law of the land, and the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court, took a separate vote on ObamaCare and voted to keep it in place.
What is happening now is a last ditch effort of desperation by the Republicans and people against Obamacare. The tactics the House is using to combine two important issues that can't possibly work in the same bill is a method of trying to trick the Senators into a very difficult position in which no-one wins, not the President, not the Senators, and especially not the U.S. people.

Will Hillary Clinton Run for President

Three years and counting down, the question in everyone's mind, especially the Democrats is 'Will Hillary Clinton run for president in the next election!' Is she qualified? Of course she is!! Will she tell everyone that she is going to run soon? Of course not!  Why? No incumbent President, namely Barack Obama wants her to reveal the fact that she will be running for President in the next election, at least not until the end of his term. It would take all the eyes off of him and his presidency and further turn it into a tailspin as a 'lame-duck' president. Suddenly, the Republicans would aim their guns at Hilary because she is their next threat, whether they know it or not.
In any pole that you may take regarding anyone from both the Republican or Democratic parties, Hilary Clinton is well ahead of any potential candidate. She has the knowledge and knows what it takes to run for President, as she ran directly against Barack Obama in the very bruising Presidential election in 2008. in the past, she may have lost the nomination to him, but she gained so much knowledge and is in tune as to what it takes to run for president. She already has the experience. No-one else out there that may run from either the Democrats or Republicans has that knowledge.
So who from the Democratic side could be considered to run? First, most of the possibilities on the Democratic side already support Hilary to run, so I doubt if there will be any kind of field at all of candidates from the Democratic party that would run against her to gain the nomination. It's like the nomination is already named, but of course the campaign hasn't even begun. Of the now possible candidates to run for president, in a recent CNN/ORC International survey shows that Hilary leads all other Democrats and Independents as she is favored now by 65% from the others to be backed by the party as the presidential nominee. Vice President Joe Biden came in a distant second, at 10% with freshman Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts at 7%, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo at 6%, and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley at 2%.
So the thing to do here is just wait, show a little patience and without a doubt when the time is right, the world will know who will run from the Democratic side.
With this said, the field is wide open on the Republican side, and with them showing so much disarray concerning government issues, namely Obamacare and now a possibility of a shutdown in government due if the Senate doesn't approve of a bill that was submitted to them by an out of touch House, it will just further everyone's resolve to elect a Democrat again in the next election.
What is the 'right' thinking. They try to kill 'Planned Parenthood' by systematically shutting down the abortion clinics in many of the states, then change the laws so that people in Democratic states cannot vote with their rediculas Voter ID system laws, which incidentally affects many college students, now to continuously vote against Obamacare now over 40 times in the House, and finally now trying to stop the government from running by attaching that bill to the Obamacare bill they are sending to defeat. They actually believe that they can actually get something done in Washington with these antics. The right continues to support bills that affect the middle class and the poor, push away women and minorities and think that they can get away with it by now winning back the White House. It will be a cold day in hell when that happens. The 'Right' needs to wake up and smell the 'Democratic' roses.

House votes a 44th time to defund ObamaCare and bill designed to shutdown the government

It is almost unbelievable that the Republican controlled House voted yet one more time to defund Obamacare. Some 40 times and counting have the Republicans voted to kill Obamacare, even after the Supreme court backs up the measure and their useless efforts to do so fail every time.
In a desperate attempt, the Republicans not only are attempting the force the Senate to now vote on defunding Obamacare yet one more time, the Republicans are doing this at the expense of shutting down the U.S. Government. What does this mean? In simple terms, in order to keep the Government going according to Republicans, Obamacare must go down, because someone from the 'right' has decided to include both the shutdown vote and Obamacare in the same bill.
Now may I ask you, are the Republicans crazy for doing such a thing? Obviously, the Republicans must be wanting to shut down the government, as the President will in no way support overturning his most important legislation of his Presidency as the Senate will again vote to defeat the bill.
The republicans will blame the Democrats in the House, but everyone knows that it is a result of a very weak House leader, John Boehner, who has now caved in under the wishes of the tea party by leading the way to approve a plan that holds hostage our economic recovery and financial stability unless we defund Obamacare.
As this all unfolds, some of the Republicans, even led by John McCain and Ron Paul think that there is very little hope that Obamacare will be overturned.
It is very sad that there is so much disarray in Washington. President Obama believes in his health care plan, as now within the next 30 days the health care package will begin to take effect. People that never had health insurance, and many who could not afford health insurance will now be covered. Everyone has the chance to have health insurance. In order for Obamacare to work, everyone must contribute who can. Health care exchanges will also exist for people who cannot afford to pay.
What is so sad is that foreign governments, even social governments provide insurance to its people. A free country like the United States has been struggling as people here do not have the health care that they need or deserve in what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world to live in. Several decades went by with the government unable to change healthcare coverage for the people. President Obama has changed all this with his plan now known as Obamacare.
In just another move to obstruct success in the U.S. government in Washington, republicans are showing once again that they will do whatever it takes to try and weaken the President. Whatever he would vote for, they will vote against, whether what they will vote for will hurt the people or not. The Sequester is one such bill that obviously the Republican controlled House doesn't care if it hurts the people or not. People are loosing their jobs, programs that need necessary funds to run are shutting down, just so that the government can start saving money. The interesting thing here is that the U.S. government is saving money, and has been doing this without the Sequester, but obviously not to the liking of the Republicans, because President Obama is doing it, not the Republicans. They want credit for everything, but the fact of the matter is, they cannot take an ounce of credit for anything but to harm this country and the people who live in it.
How about what the Republicans are now voting to do to hurt low income families from receiving food stamps. In Washington, the House Republicans propose cutting $40 billion more in food stamps over the next 10 years by imposing work requirements and eliminating waivers for some able-bodied adults. The cuts would push four million to six million low-income people, including millions of "very low-income unemployed parents" who want to work but cannot find jobs, off the rolls, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Regarding the latest bill concerning a government shutdown and Obamacare, the Senate majority leader believes that the vote will fail in the senate, which I predict that it will also fail. Even if it passed, the President will never sign it. He will veto it in a heartbeat. So why do Republicans have to cause so much chaos in destruction in American government, just so that 'their side' wins so that the president will fail. President Obama has not failed and will not fail, but the Republicans are just so ignorant to realize that they have already lost any fight that they try to make with Obama. As an example of the Republican thinking, in the case of this bill now passed by the House, the House Republicans put together two items in one bill that is doomed for defeat.
As these issue persist, more Republicans such as John McCain will jump ship and realize that Obamacare cannot be defeated, at least not right now. I will also say that there is a possibility that Obamacare will go down in the future once in place, especially if the majority of people prove that such a bill is hurting middle class Americans but the time is not now. Even if it were right to stop it, and that has not been proven yet to date, it is just too late to stop it right now. The bill will be taken into effect regardless of their actions against it,and it would be very difficult to reverse the trend, to even go back to the way that it was if it were ever proven that Obamacare needed to be defeated. Now, because of his bill, so many Americans will now have insurance who couldn't qualify or be able to afford it in the past, will have adapted to the plan as most Americans should and most likely will.
This issue is just one of the issues that will continue to plague the U.S. Congress, especially the Republicans in both Houses. Another issue that is just too hard to swallow is the fact that the Republicans are doing their best to close every planned parenthood location, eventually to include every state, even though women have the right to an abortion. It is with the tactics of Governor Ultrasound who I will not name here, because he doesn't deserve to be a Governor of a state this country. But also I will predict that he will be removed from office too, due to his mishandling of funds and living a ridiculous life style, also to the benefit to his family, at the expense of the American people. Of course, he is just another one of those Republican elected officials that just don't get it.
No wonder because of antics of the Republicans in just about every aspect of governance, I can be sure that anyone running from the Republican ticket for office will definitely loose the Presidential election in 2016.
Whether Hilary Clinton runs for President in 2016 or not, whoever runs from the Democratic side will win. I am also making this prediction almost 3 years out from the election.
I'm not saying that President Obama is always right, as I reserve the right to judge him as other do from time to time, and I certainly don't always agree with him or his policies.
The interesting thing here is that for just about every prediction I have made throughout President Obama's presidency, I have been right. That's not to say that I can finally be wrong, but common sense will just tell you that if the Republican clan continues on its destructive war path that effects the American people every time they turn around and vote on something, then these people that elect them will again say that they had enough and put down the Republicans once again, regardless of who will be running on the Republican side in 2016.
The Republicans are already doomed to fail because of their lack of support for the American people, and because they have proved time and time again that their idiotic approach to the issues presented to them, will defeat them because the 'right' wing of government doesn't know how to protect the people they are supposed to serve.
