My New Blog written about a new book "DECISION POINTS" by President George W. Bush

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

The birth of my new blog located at http://www.bushdecisionpoints.net is now active. It is in existence to challenge all claims within President George W. Bush's new book called 'Decision Points', which are the Presidents memoirs. The book is scheduled to be released in the first week of November, after mid-term elections.  All claims made by the President of his actions and decisions during his 8 years in office from 2001 through 2009 stated in his book can be challenged as long as there is proof to the contrary. President Bush will be given credit for the positive things that I find in his book, but on the other hand, I will challenge everything in the book that is not accurate, with facts to back up my statements.
If there are any readers that would also like to contribute to the new blog, I would be willing to publish articles by the readers as long as the facts stated in the 'reader articles' can be substantiated. Articles and comments can be sent to bushdecisionpoints@gmail.com. If you enjoy the blog, please become a 'FOLLOWER'. Each new follower can submit an article for the blog. All 'followers' articles will be GUARANTEED to be published on the website as long as it is true and written in good taste.

Books Read by Barack Obama and George W. Bush

Like President Bush, the Democratic President Obama is a very avid book reader. Recently he was caught reading "The Post-American World" by Fareed Zakaria. For one of his summer trips, President Obama packed the following books:
• The Way Home by George Pelecanos, a crime thriller based in Washington, D.C.;
• Lush Life by Richard Price, a story of race and class set in New York's Lower East Side;
• Tom Friedman's Hot, Flat, and Crowded, on the benefits to America of an environmental revolution;
• John Adams by David McCullough;
• Plainsong by Kent Haruf, a drama about the life of eight different characters living in a Colorado prairie community.

What does this list of American authors tell us about the president? Well, it's not as fun as the year Bush decided to read Camus' The Stranger. George Bush reading a French Existentialist is like Obama reading a Cabela's catalog. Plus, it was a story about a one-time layabout turned unrepentant Arab killer, which, if you wanted to overinterpret things, gave you enough material to get you through a few packs of Gauloises.
The Obama selection is not overtly controversial. In 2006, Bush's list included The Great Influenzaabout the 1918 flu. If Obama were reading that today while his White House was issuing a new report about the H1N1 virus, he'd start a national panic. But his list is also clearly not poll-tested. Women played a key role in Obama's victory in 2008. They're swing voters. And yet all of Obama's authors are white men. The subject of the longest book, John Adams, is a dead white male. Obama couldn't get away with that in an election year, and, given his aides' penchant for cleaning up little things like this, we'll soon see the president with a copy of Kate Walbert's A Short History of Women.

Christmas Tree Decorations at the White House

Decorations are usually going in full force during the Christmas season at the white house. It goes without saying that you will find some type of Christmas garland on the White House property shortly after Thanksgiving. The Christmas season is about to show its face again at the White House, with the annual christmas tree cerimony, along with Christmas music and various decorations. As Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, I'm especially watchful of the activites at the White House and will report most of the Christmas activies at the White House in detail this year.

Obama rides a Horse to his Inauguration ? A Strange way to Travel

Another unknown fact with Obama is that he is an avid horse rider, and when he traveled to Washington D.C from Philadelphia just before his inauguration, he elected to ride a horse instead of taking the train. Most likely the future president did have plans to at least wear a helmet for protection. It isn't known if he road horses for a sport, but this odd trip to his inauguration would likely to include the proper sporting gear, such as a riding helmet, also formally known as equestrian helmets. Below is a picture of President Obama standing next to a horse. Below the picture is a story about his venture to ride a horse to his inauguration.

CHICAGO, IL – President-Elect Barack Obama’s inauguration travel plans are harkening back to a time earlier than any had predicted.
It was recently reported that Obama and his family would be taking a train from Philadelphia to Washington D.C., stopping along the way to pick up Vice President-elect Joe Biden in Delaware. However, Emmett Beliveau, the executive director of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, has issued a statement to clarify Obama’s plans.
“President-Elect Barack Obama has chosen to ride horseback to his presidential inauguration. His decision honors the rich history and tradition of previous inaugural journeys, such as those of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. His denial of automotive transport is also a statement against our dependency on foreign oil.
“Millions of citizens have expressed a desire to see Obama sworn in, but sadly, it is not possible to accommodate a number of that magnitude. By riding horseback out in the open through three states, we hope to include as many Americans as possible who wish to congratulate him.”
When asked by a CNN reporter if Michelle Obama and her children would be joining him, Beliveau laughed and shook his head. “Oh no no no, she and the girls will be taking the train. Michelle told him if he goes through with this, she doesn’t care if he’s the leader of the free world or a plumber, she doesn’t want to hear one peep about his sore behind.”

6 Days to Go - How May Seats will the Republicans gain in Congress

Another Prediction, this time by CNN Political Director Paul Steinhauser. With less than a week to go for the midterm elections, this non-partisan political handicapper is saying that Republicans forecast a net gain of 48 to 60 seats in the House. The largest take-back by the minority came way back in 1944, when the Republicans reclaimed 52 seats to regain a majority in the House and Senate. But again, these are just predictions, but in fairness, seem to be accurate.
Maybe a deciding factor this year is because of the birth of the "tea party". The tea party movement came about because of the disgust perceived by President Obama's new policies, especially with health care reform. Of course, there still is a chance that the Republicans may fall flat on their faces next Tuesday during the election as they may not gain the majority in either the House or Senate. If this happens it would mean the death of the so called "tea party". The Republicans would  blame this organization for the loss. As far as excuses go, the Republicans will always have one.

Obama votes absentee

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Washington (CNN) – President Obama filled out his absentee ballot for the midterm election in Illinois from the White House West Wing, according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
Gibbs said he voted for Democratic candidate Alexi Giannoulias, who is in a tough race against Republican Mark Kirk for the president's former Senate seat. He said the president also voted for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn who is up for re-election.
"I know who he voted for for Governor and Senate in Illinois – the two Democratic candidates who I believe will win," Gibbs said.
Obama made two trips to Chicago this year to raise money for Giannoulias, and first lady Michelle Obama recently campaigned for him. On Saturday, the president will headline a rally in Chicago as part of a multi-state push for Democrats leading up to the Nov. 2 election.
The first lady took advantage of her home state's early voting and cast her vote when she stopped in Chicago during a Midwestern campaign swing two weeks ago.

Obama to have a Related Challenger for President in 2012?

As reported, a cousin of President Obama has surfaced and now claiming that in 2012 he will run against Barack Obama. Ok, even if it were true, why would his own flesh and blood run against him. Come to find out that the man claiming to be Obama's cousin is and 83 year old retired engineer who lives in California. His name - Don Cordell. He further claims that his is a distant cousin to at least 22 presidents. How interesting, or ridicules this is to put it mildly. If this is true, then I'm related to Abraham Lincoln.

The White House on Weight Issues

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Many people take weight issues with a grain of salt, and some people inversly go completely out of their way to stay in shape. Sometimes people criticize important people, like Barack and Michelle Obama about their weight and their lack of control concerning their diets now that they live in the White House. I guess it is fair to say that if you live in the White House, you can do whatever you want when it concerns weight, but being on the national spotlight as two of the most important people on the face of this earth, it is wise to practice what is best for everyone. In a recent question concerning her weight, a follower stated, "How strong to do feel these days?" The answer came with a gesture, shown in the picture below, which in itself is quite comical.

But to be on the serious side, the President and First Lady know full well how important it is to stay in shape, and to promote healthy diets. Sometimes it is not just what you eat, it may be what you don't. So it is may be important to use muscle building supplements to fill in the gap of needed nutrients your body may need for you to feel great. The idea of these type of supplements may make people think that they will gain weight. On the contrary, if used properly, you can achieve and keep a set weight easily. Instead of second-guessing a product, it is always good to read the reviews and make a very conscious decision regarding the product.

Michelle Obama gaining weight

Lately, there seems to be a tizzy of criticism regarding of all things, Michelle Obama's weight.
Yes, she is the first lady and she may have gained a few pounds since the Presidential campaign a few years ago, and expects criticism from her friends and foe's. Instead of criticizing her, maybe they should try weight loss products that work on their own.
As far as a foe goes, Rush Limbaugh recently made remarks about a caller and several people have refuted his comments. One such respondent said "Michelle Obama can't help it that she's smarter, better educated, and has accomplished more in life than you -- and Limbaugh and his idiot caller. I'll wager that she's better looking, too."
"And yeah, why can't kids have the right to be fat and lazy like loser Rush? How dare anyone advocate for healthy eating! We must let food conglomerates do whatever they want!"

Further evidence below with critical opinions by readers....

"BTW, no evidence has been presented of her weight gain. As if it's relevant."

President Active in the Fight Against Cancer

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Many people may not know, but President Obama spent his career prior to President as a U.S. Senator fighting to improve prevention and treatment of cancer. He passed laws to mandate insurance coverage of colerectal cancer examinations, ensure Medicaid coverage for treatment of breast and cervical cancers, promote early detection of prostate and testicular cancers, and helped create the Illinois Task Force on Cervical Cancer Elimination. As United States Senator, he has fought for increased funding for cancer research, and championed genomics and personalized medicine to identify new and better treatments for cancer and other diseases. As president, Barack Obama will build upon his career-long efforts and launch a new campaign to combat cancer and provide greater lifetime support to cancer survivors and their families.
The United States continues to spend money on cancer research, and there are several techniques and tecnologies available to do so. An example, to acquire a mesothelioma diagnosis must be done in a rapid basis, because mesothelioma spreads quickly and requires early treatment for successful containment and eratification.
The President as a Senator did his part, now it is up to the people to become aware of these types of diseases with frequent medical checkups. At least you know that even our President as prior Senator of Illinois made a formal effort to stop cancer, and now as our President, we should be mindful of his actions in his continued campaign to fight cancer.

Classified Information Leaks out Incriminating Several People in Bush's Administration

Friday, October 22, 2010

Sensitive classified information was leaked out by the Obama administration and reported by WikiLeaks, and turned out to be front page news in every newspaper across the country. A new and very controversial blog called WikiLeaks decided to publish classified information that shows proof of torture, abuse, and murder of prisoners until at least 2009. This information will be disected by the news media and blogs for the next several weeks and months, along with Congressional hearings, and will be a top headline with very incriminating evidence, not only against the Bush administration, but also maybe the Obama administration. Why, because now there is information that abuse to prisoners was taking place after President Obama was elected. The facts must come out now because the abuse was reportedly stopped in 2009. Did it stop when President Obama took office as acting President, or was it happening after he became the Commander and Chief of the United States. President Obama outlawed the torture that President Bush allowed.
This kind of information endangers lives, and whoever leaked out this sensitive information needs to be dealt with, and should be prosecuted. This is in a sense in itself treason, as information that was classified can now be kwown by other countries that should not know this information. Peoples lives are now in danger, and even though I write this blog, I do not agree with the fact that another blog can post highly classified information, even if the information must now now be considered non-classifed because others became privey to it.
Because of the leaks, there will be story after story about what happened during the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. In the future, I fore-see court hearings that could even include the past and present Presidents.
Now, I am especially interested in what will be explained by the former President in his new book to come out next month. With the information coming out now on torture, abuse and murder by President Bush's own troups, most likely information in his own book may incriminate him. So I guess we need to sit tight and see.

As far as WikiLeaks, their blog should be censured, but will not just because of the peoples rights in this country, along with freedom of speech and the freedom of the Press. They must not understand that leaking this sensitive information put lives in danger. They apparently were not concerned about that. Maybe all they wanted to do is make a name for themselves. Well they were successful, and hopefully no further lives will be lost because of it.

Will Obama and Clinton Team Up in 2012?

Now here is another idea. As reported by the Daily Mail reporter a few weeks ago, who is to say that President Obama would ask Joe Biden to step down and have Hilary Clinton become his Vice-President. Both were strong candidates in 2008, and Obama was the only person to beat her. But if this idea were to pan out, she would then become the Democratic front runner in 2012 if Obama doesn't run, and will definitely become the candidate in 2016. At least that is my guess. As the rules state. Hilary acting as Secretary of State cannot run for future office as long as she is in her present job as Secretary of State. But who is to say that she couldn't step down, have someone fill her shoes and then team up with President Obama before the beginning of the first presidential caucuses and primaries that are at least a year away.
This idea at this point is allot more than the Republicans have to offer. But wait just a minute. There is another report by the Daily Mail Reporter that a man named Donald Trump may enter politics. He was quoted in saying, "'For the first time in my life, I'm actually thinking about it (running for president).' His reasons why he may run is because the country has so many problems, "such as the erosion of the manufacturing base to foreign competitors. The United States doesn't really make anything anymore." In a sense, he is right. It is hard to find American made products now-a-days. He most likely will not run as a Democrat, but will he then run as a Republican or Independent, maybe a tea-party candidate. Back in 2000, according to the Daily Mail reporter, "Trump talked about running as a Reform Party candidate, and suggested the massively popular television star Oprah Winfrey would be his running mate."  In my opinion, I don't think she is brushed up enough on government issues, and would face a similar problem Governor Palin did in 2008. She has other aspirations after finishing her 25th season of the Oprah Winfrey Show this year.

Obama's Actions, His Popularity and the Future of this Country

Another Opinion from the Editor of  'Obama in the White House' blog

As most people who have a life already know, the political machines are now in motion, and in 2 weeks we will know if the Democrats keep a majority in Congress. It is during these times I get fired up, and my fingers just keep typing on the keyboard. Politics is exciting to me, also the thought of having the first black President of the United States. Since Obama's election, I have written several articles here, and will continue to do so. I sincerely believe that President Obama will be seen as a very successful President. He will be known as a popular President, even though his present numbers do not reflect that. Most Americans now feel that President Obama is not successful as President, but they fail to realize that he has only been in office for 2 years. Oh, by the way, he has 2 more years to go. By then, maybe he can swing around the people to favor him as President. I will be the first to tell you now that if the elections were held today, President Obama wouldn't make it. Why, because the American people are blind. They are not patient. They cannot realize a man that would do everything in his power to help better the country, and in a short period of time. Many people feel that he got in too deep, that he had more on his plate that he could handle. He knew that he had a limited time, and he took advantage of it. He knew that he had to do what is right, even though many people would reject his ideas. He knew because of his actions that people would rebel against him, and they have. But many know that he has accomplished allot in just two years, and that the next two will be crutial for his re-election. He has gained respect throughout the world for his peace efforts, even though he has to fight through two wars that he didn't start.
On a side note, I joke around with a friend of mine that "this country is finished". Actually it would really be finished if we had a President that was afraid to act. Just maybe now we have a chance. Maybe the lives of our children and their children will be better than ours today. We owe it to them, as we owe it now to ourselves. The American people are smart people. We know how to agree and to disagree. We have the freedom of speech and to write, as I prove it here on a daily basis. It is our right. But the end result should be what is best for the American People. And for that, I wouldn't trade my life in this country for a life in any other country anywhere.

President George W. Bush takes blame for not providing Social Security Reform

It is just amazing...  George W. Bush always gives me so much to write about. Most everyone knows his failures as President of the United States, also knowing that he was a very unpopular President. But in a statement on Thursday, he believes that his bigest failure from his two terms in office was that he did not provide reform with Social Security. He tried once in 2005, but he was unsuccessful. Maybe doing nothing for the folks in New Orleans during the Katrina disaster is just an oversight or something. He just doesn't get it. He doesn't see the big picture. President Obama had more things on his plate to do as President of the United States than President Bush attempted to do for several years prior, mainly because Bush failed to act. I cannot entirely blame him for his actions, because his advisors were 'ill-advisors'. They did not inform him of the facts. They only provided him what he wanted to hear. They were not easy things to do, especially because a prior President, George W. Bush did nothing to prevent disaster from reaching the American people, at least not until it was too late, and we had a national tragedy on our hands. Social Security is just one thing he was a failure on. Did he forget New York City. There is substantial proof that what happened on 911 was indicated to the President by National Security before it happened, and he refused to act until it was too late. Then the ex-president gained national attention and won over the American people so that he could get re-elected. His answer was to start a war in Iraq, let Osama bin Laden disappear in Afghanistan, then push the responsibilites of cleaning up his mess on President Obama. Maybe that is not what he planned, but he didn't take everything in consideration, and that is exactly what happened. Now his party has the gull to blame President Obama for his actions as President in his first two years of office.
Did Bush win the Nobel Peace Prize in his first year in office? Absolutely not, but Obama did.
Did Bush pass measures to help the people with health care? Absolutely not, but Obama did.
Did Bush do what it takes to get the American people heading in the right direction to gain jobs. Absolutely not, but Obama did. This is just the tip of the iceburg. President Obama did this in 2 years, verses the 8 years that President Bush had to destroy the country. Now the Conservatives believe that everything President Obama is doing is destroying the country. No matter who is in office, the opposing party will blame the present administration for something.
Many people may feel that I'm too harsh on the prior President. But if that is true, I sincerely apologize, because he is a President, and I'm just a citizen of the United States. I voted for him when he was governor of Texas, and I voted for him to become President. I did not vote for him for his second term in office. By then, to me he proved his incompetence as President. It is important that our voices be heard, and not be afraid of Government. That means Bush's government, and that also means Obama's government. The government belongs to the people.
In a sense, I probabally would be one of the first persons to buy President Bush's new book, called "Decision Points". The title of the book is very peculular, and that is one reason why I want to buy the book. I am just hoping that the President owns up to his mistakes as President, and then I would be the first one to list on this blog his accomplishments.
News of his ideas about his lack of accomplishments with Social Security is out most likely because he will mention it in his book. Maybe he is trying to keep people from attacking him on his inability to act on Social Security, but again he misses the point. They will attack him on everything else. This is why I can hardly wait until the book reaches the store shelves. It will be a best seller without a doubt.

Bush and Cheney Not Stumping for the Republican Candidates in Mid-term Election Year

Has anyone noticed that President Bush hasn't been stumping for any of the Republican candidates lately. Neither has his co-hort vice-president Dick Cheney.
Yes it is true that President Bush has kept a low profile since leaving office, other than speaking on subjects to fund raising and his presidential library. The ex-vice-president loves to talk about national defense, but lately he hasn't been able to draw up funds like he used to. But Dick Cheney does plan on going on a 10-spot speaking tour later this year and will make a few speeches when his memoirs surface next year. So it's all about them.
In contrast, President Obama is stumping for his candidates. It goes without saying that he really doesn't have a choice, or does he. He is stumping for his candidates, knowing full well that he may loose control of the House this year, and maybe the Senate. President Obama is unpopular now in almost every poll, yet he will speak out, like he has since the beginning of his time as President of the United States. If he feels that he is wrong on an issue, he would normally take the blame. Did President Bush ever stump for the Republican Presidential candidate in 2008? Of course not. He was too busy getting ready to try and explain why the country was about to face an economic collapse, effecting his candidate and effectively taking him out of the election. President Bush killed his own party. Now the Republican party has the nerve to blame the Democrats as for the blame with the economy. I suppose that the Republicans feel that complacency and doing nothing about it is better than trying to become involved and fix the problems.
So why the wait for the republicans that lead the country for 8 years?! For President Bush, it seems to always be about books. He seems to be waiting to speak because of a book. But this fact is not helping the candidates of the party right now. When he was President, Karl Rove revealed that George Bush most likely read hundreds of books over the course of his presidency. He would always return to Camp David and read books. It has been reported that just in 2006 alone, President Bush read 95 books, along with another 51 he read in 2007 and 40 in 2008. So what is he waiting for.. You guessed it. Right after them mid-term elections, President Bush plans to release a book of his own, called "Decision Points" which will prove to be very interesting reading. Will it be a book of excuses, or fallacies that only President Bush could proclaim. In any case, for President Bush, it has always been about him, and his new book will most likely prove that.
It is obvious here that I'm polarized against the former President and Vice-President, but maybe I wouldn't be if they would just do one thing in a moment of time that would help their own parties, instead of doing things that would only benefit themselves. I might just enjoy writing a supportive article about the former President and former Vice-President of the United States someday.

Michelle Obama Speaks about Obesity and Breast-Feeding

Michelle Obama is a lady of her word. She is very dedicated and outwardly speaks of obesity, especially in black woman. In as recently as October 2010, she spoke before the Congressional Black Caucus, First Lady Michelle Obama said childhood obesity had become a national epidemic and was particularly bad in black communities. the first lady said that another way to fight obesity was to promote breast-feeding. She noted that especially in black communities where, she said, 40% of children never receive the health benefits of breast-feeding. But even with the help, women must be educated on the subject, especially when it comes to how how to increase breast milk production. It is important that a woman who attempts to breast feed understand the proper way. As with most other things as the Obama administration is finding out, there is a right way, and there is a wrong way to do things. Sometimes things are done by trial and error, but when it comes to your child and breat feeding, it is especially important to know what you are doing.

The Truth to be Known in 2 Weeks about Off-Year Political Elections

Opinion of the Editor - James  'Obama in the White House' blog

So what is the 2010 election about this year? Well, it's about the same thing every off year election is about. It's about voting against the incumbunts. Only a handfull of Presidents enjoyed being away from the fire after 2 years in office. Maybe the fact is that any President who puts his job on the line has this problem by trying to do what is right becomes his problem. But isn't that what he is supposed to do. President Obama wanted to fulfill his promises during his campaign, and now everyone knows he meant it. Maybe that's the reason why President Bush enjoyed 2 terms in office, because he promised nothing, and most definitely did nothing, if you really want to call the handling of Hurricane Katrina victims and 911 and the Iraqi war an enjoyment.
President Obama went in office knowing full well that what he was about to attempt as President most likely would make him unpopular. Most of the Democats in the House and Senate also knew. The Conservative Democrats were just too afraid to do what they know is right. I guess "too chicken" to do what is right is the better call. So what did voting for the issues with Obama cause?  The main contributer to the peoples unrest for Obama is the lack of patience. Yes, the economy is still sputtering at 9.6 percent national unemployment. The housing crisis is still a mess and the jobs market is not doing well.
Now, chances are that the House will be lost to the Republicans, and Speaker Pelosi will loose her job as House Speaker. At least 6, maybe more Democratic governors most likely will be dethrowned, including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Iowa, have a chance to go 'RED' this year. The republicans are spending more money on the elections than they have in ANY other election in history, and this is just an 'off' year. If they do win the House, the republicans will continue to do what they do best, and that is to put the breaks on upcoming policies and decisions of the President, but in turn, most likely President Obama will veto many of the Congressional decisions. But as the saying goes, "if you can give it, you must take it".
The one thing that President Obama has going for him in this off-election year, is that he has initiated several unpopular Democratic policies now in place that have at least 2 more years to mature, and in 2012 if the jobs market and unemployment go in the right direction, then he may just have what it takes to get re-elected. His 2nd big challenge is to keep the taxes low, as the Republicans will now claim what may happen to the country is because of what he has done in his first two years in office.
Will President Obama become a 'lame-duck' President, meaning he has no chance to implement any policies that he wants, mainly because the entire Congress now votes against him. If he also looses majority of the Senate in 2010, that most likely will be exactly where he may be.

President Obama's job approval ratings have severely dropped, especially in Alaska, Arkansas, Florida and Ohio. Democratic  governor encumbants in these states, all except Alaska, are enjoying a big lead over their Republican challengers, at least up to now, even though the mood of the nation seems to be against them. In contrast, the Demcratic Senators in these prospective states are not doing well.
So who really knows. What would be devastating to the Republicans would be if they couldn't gain the majority in the House, because if they couldn't do that, most likely they couldn't do it in the Senate, and they would be no better off then they are now as far as the ability to pass laws that they want, and to keep Obama from passing what they don't want.

Diet Pills used in Your Health Care Plan

President Obama has attacked health care costs with his new heath care plan, but the long term effects will not be felt for some time. In a specific case, health care costs due to obesity will top $100 billion dollars this year. This is a staggering statistic, but it is one that cannot be ignored. Diet pills are more widely used with women over men, Why? They are usually more concerned about their looks, not necessarily over their health. It has been a theory in the past that in order to safely loose weight, you would have to visit a doctor, thus contributing to the cost of health care. Now it is possible to find the best diet pills for women over the counter - known by reviews as Apidexin which provides 400% more weight loss compared to dieting alone. These pills are considered safe and effective, although in some cases you may want to consider a doctor's opinion prior to taking them.

Hillary Clinton to run for US president's office in 2016?

LONDON: Speculation is rife that Hillary Clinton may run for the US president's office in 2016, as her husband Bill is back on the campaign trail -- offering thanks to those who backed her in 2008 against Barack Obama, a media report said.

According to Britain's 'The Daily Telegraph', former President Bill Clinton has been laying the foundations for the Secretary of State's another try in 2016, by campaigning for Democratic politicians who helped his wife Hillary run for the president's office against President Obama two years back.

In fact, Bill, now a globe-trotting philanthropist, went to Española, New Mexico, the site of the first European colony in America, last week to campaign for Diane Denish, the Democratic candidate for the governor.

Denish had supported Hillary against Obama in 2008 and Bill was back to repay the debt; he made crystal clear who he was representing on the campaign trail -- and it wasn't Obama, the report said.

"I planned to do about one stop for everybody that helped Hillary run for president because she's one of only two members of the president's cabinet who cannot participate in politics," he told a gathering of 4,000 people.

As Secretary of State, he reminded people, is not permitted to campaign. "Then I got out here and started stirring around and realised that a lot of people were mad and even more confused and I didn't want it on my conscience so I just loaded up and started strolling around," Bill said.

Bill's energetic reappearance on the campaign trail comes just as rumours, some of them eagerly fuelled by the Clinton camp, swirl that Hillary might replace the hapless Joe Biden as Obama's vice-presidential running mate in 2012 or even challenge the President for the Democratic nomination if his popularity continues to slide.

Elections in 2 Weeks, What will happen to Congress

It is pretty much a certainty now that there will be a lower number of Democrats in Congress after mid-term elections in two weeks, but most Democrats are confident that both the Democrats in both the House and Senate will keep a majority. Democrats are more concerned about the races in 2012, as there may be twice as many Democratic seats up for grabs then as there are now.
Regardless, the so-called "Obama 2.0" agenda has been the talk of the town.
In a nutshell, as President, Mr. Obama must stay focused on the issues of the country, regardless whether his party holds majorities in Congress or not. In the past, he has stated that for himself to be a successful President, he would have to strengthen the economy starting with more jobs and to get everyone back to work. To do this now, many people would have to change professions, something that allot of people are not willing to do. But in his remaining 2 years in office in his first term, the President most likely will try to change the mindset of the people.
He would be the first to admit that trying to do this will be increasingly difficult, especially if the Republicans gain a majority in Congress.
Again, it is highly unlikely that the Republicans would gain the majority of Congress in both the House and Senate, but if that were to happen, President Obama would become a "lame duck" President in his first term. Congress would then fail to act on any measure that the President were interested in as they would vote within their party lines, and most likely against the President. This period of time would essentially hurt the country, but at the same time, bring in more strict checks and balances, and make it increasingly difficult to get any good legislation passed. Congress would become active, trying to pass bills that the Republicans favor. This would be a time to watch out for a slew of Presidential vetos by President Obama.

Preston on Politics: Election marathon is now a sprint

By Mark Preston, CNN Senior Political Editor
October 18, 2010 12:44 a.m. EDT

Washington (CNN) -- With only 15 days remaining before Election Day 2010 and early voting already happening in several states, the midterm marathon is now a sprint as Democrats work frantically to establish a beachhead to protect their congressional majorities while Republicans hope voter anger over the economy propels them into power.
Democrats and Republicans agree on very little other than this: When the dust settles on the 2010 midterms, it's not "will Republicans pick up seats?" but "how many?"
Will the GOP pick up the 39 seats needed for John Boehner to wrest the speaker's gavel out of Nancy Pelosi's hands?
The midterms might be best described as the 180-degree election. Just two years ago, the GOP was depressed, disorganized and directionless after watching the Democrats gain control of the White House and add to their congressional majorities.
How times have changed since Obama stood victorious in Grant Park on November 4, 2008, just having been elected the 44th president of the United States.
His campaign themes of hope and change were embraced by a hungry electorate including young and first-time voters looking for solutions, an end to the way Washington does business and a pathway to prosperity. Obama delivered on promises such as health care reform, but the damage to the economy was too severe, the housing crisis too widespread and an upward tick in unemployment just too much.
Instead of trying to increase the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, Obama is now trying to save them.
This week, Obama is scheduled travel to six states in five days for more than 10 events on behalf of Democrats such as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Sen. Barbara Boxer of California and Sen. Patty Murray of Washington. Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden, the administration's campaign workhorse, will make five stops for Democrats including Reid and Murray.
First lady Michelle Obama, who enjoys a higher approval rating than her husband and his vice president, is scheduled to appear in Connecticut on Monday for Democratic Senate nominee Richard Blumenthal before heading to New York City for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser.
Obama is "hoping" that the voters, who came out for him in 2008, trust him that "change" is on the way and it is just going to take some time.
Sunday night, 35,000 people attended a campaign rally at Ohio State University featuring the president and first lady. It was the third such rally he has held in the past few weeks. The fourth and final one is scheduled for Oct. 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It is the kind of turnout that Democrats witnessed last night in Columbus that will be needed to hold off devastating losses on Election Day.

Who May Run Against President Obama in 2012?

Friday, October 15, 2010

Do you think that President Obama will run for re-election? I believe that he will, but do we know now who may run against him?

Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are the clear leaders of the 2012 Republican presidential primary field, according to a new Gallup poll out last week.

Thirteen Republicans received support in the survey, demonstrating the wide open nature of the field, but Romney and Palin were the only potential candidates to earn more than 15 percent in the poll, with Mike Huckabee trailing not far behind.

The three former governors were the only candidates to receive more than 10 percent, with Romney receiving 19 percent, Palin getting 16 percent and Huckabee at 12 percent.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich came in fourth in the poll, getting 9 percent.

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) was the only other potential candidate in the field to get more than 5 percent, receiving 7 percent in the poll.

Both Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour each got 3 percent in the poll.

Behind Pawlenty and Barbour were former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

The survey of 906 Republicans was conducted Sept. 25-26 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Six Things O'Donnell Could Do After the Election

Mark Wilson / Getty Images

Christine O'Donnell waves to the crowd following a Delaware Senate debate on October 13, 2010.
While Christine O'Donnell appears to have avoided campaign-crashing gaffes in last night's Delaware Senate debate, her chances in the race appear to be fading. Although interest remains high, she trails Democrat Chris Coons by an increasing margin, and she claims the National Republican Senatorial Committee has quit helping her.
As has been well reported, she has had money problems, including debt and an IRS lien. So if she isn't able to come back, how might O'Donnell spend her time after Nov. 2? We've got some suggestions.
(1) Go Back to School: O'Donnell famously claimed she had gone to Oxford University, when in fact she had attended an outside institute's summer program there. Before that, she said she'd graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson long before she actually did. And she suggested that she was taking classes for a master's at Princeton, which she was not. So why not use the down time to actually pick up a few extra credentials. (Potential flaw: this could lead to more debt in the short term.)
(2) Open a Wicca Supply Store: By now, everyone agrees, she's not a witch (more contentious is whether she's you). But she's also well positioned to take advantage of the link between her name and witchcraft. It's not like Dan Aykroyd was a real bluesman before he opened the House of Blues in 1992. Why not open a store specializing in pentagrams and the like?
(3) Get Married: O'Donnell told CNN in 1998 that wives should "graciously submit" to their husbands. Recently, she said she's "currently accepting applications for a husband," and that makes some sense: if she had a benevolent, controlling man in her life, he could dictate a path for her, and she wouldn't have to deal with figuring out what's next.
(4) Become a Scientist: As Gandhi said, you have to become the change you want to see. O'Donnell told Bill O'Reilly in 2007 that "American scientific companies are cross-breeding humans and animals and coming up with mice with fully functioning human brains." What better way to clean up the R&D establishment than by entering it? It's not unlike entering government to reform it. (Caveat: this step may need to be combined with No. 1.)
(5) Return to Punditry: As many people have pointed out, O'Donnell is really a natural pundit—it's how she made her name, and she seems quite comfortable at it. Her profile is higher now, and there's a clear precedent set by Sarah Palin at Fox News. We recommend a two-anchor setup reminiscent of CNN's Parker Spitzer—O'Donnell's warmth and extroversion played well on panel shows like Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect but might be squandered if she's alone at the anchor's desk. We even have a proposal for someone to fill the Spitzer role: California's Jerry Brown, who's in a tight race to retake the governorship he held years ago. Like Spitzer, Brown is an outsize character who could be the liberal half of the duo—althoughunlike Spitzer, Governor Moonbeam only talks about prostitutes.
6. Ask God. After all, she says he's keeping her in the race.
