President Obama speaks in Beckley West Virginia honoring the Dead Miners

Sunday, April 25, 2010

President Obama paid tribute to the 29 miners that died in a mining disaster in Beckley West Virginia. He spoke of the miners who were working in Upper Big Branch. President Obama said " These miners, worked as when they died, in pursuit of the American dream."
President Obama paid tribute to the 29 miners that died in a mining disaster in Beckley West Virginia. He spoke of the miners who were working in Upper Big Branch. President Obama said " These miners, worked as when they died, in pursuit of the American dream."

President Obama stated that the lives lost in the accident will not be in vane. The President said that our task here on earth is to prevent more lives to be lost in such a tragedy. He claims that we must do to insure safe conditions under ground. President Obama said " God bless our miners, God bless their families, God bless West Virginia, and God bless the United States of America."

Besides the President honoring the lost miners, there is an ongoing investigation as to what actually caused the accident, but the actual findings may not come forth for some time, as the mine is filled with deadly methane gas. Surely out of all of this tragedy, sticter guidelines will have to be followed to prevent another accident such as this to happen in the future.

Secure Storage Devices to Store Valuable Data

Saturday, April 24, 2010

Security is necessary to protect valuable data and information. Such a device is on a form factor that is very small, yet can hold a mountain of information. These device, known as a micro sd are produced that can secure your data so it can be protected. The U.S. Government has to do what is needed to protect National Security, and to protects its data in government computers. Protection similar to this is needed for your personal data at home. In many cases, this can be accomplished by using  a secure digital SD card to store data.

Wall Street Reform by Barack Obama

Friday, April 23, 2010

The following is a note by Barack Obama talking about Wall Street,

James --

It has now been well over a year since the near collapse of our entire financial system that cost the nation more than 8 million jobs. To this day, hard-working families struggle to make ends meet.

We've made strides -- businesses are starting to hire, Americans are finding jobs, and neighbors who had given up looking are returning to the job market with new hope. But the flaws in our financial system that led to this crisis remain unresolved.

Wall Street titans still recklessly speculate with borrowed money. Big banks and credit card companies stack the deck to earn millions while far too many middle-class families, who have done everything right, can barely pay their bills or save for a better future.

We cannot delay action any longer. It is time to hold the big banks accountable to the people they serve, establish the strongest consumer protections in our nation's history -- and ensure that taxpayers will never again be forced to bail out big banks because they are "too big to fail."

That is what Wall Street reform will achieve, why I am so committed to making it happen, and why I'm asking for your help today.

Please stand with me to show your support for Wall Street reform.

We know that without enforceable, commonsense rules to check abuse and protect families, markets are not truly free. Wall Street reform will foster a strong and vibrant financial sector so that businesses can get loans; families can afford mortgages; entrepreneurs can find the capital to start a new company, sell a new product, or offer a new service.

Consumer financial protections are currently spread across seven different government agencies. Wall Street reform will create one single Consumer Financial Protection Agency -- tasked with preventing predatory practices and making sure you get the clear information, not fine print, needed to avoid ballooning mortgage payments or credit card rate hikes.

Reform will provide crucial new oversight, give shareholders a say on salaries and bonuses, and create new tools to break up failing financial firms so that taxpayers aren't forced into another unfair bailout. And reform will keep our economy secure by ensuring that no single firm can bring down the whole financial system.

With so much at stake, it is not surprising that allies of the big banks and Wall Street lenders have already launched a multi-million-dollar ad campaign to fight these changes. Arm-twisting lobbyists are already storming Capitol Hill, seeking to undermine the strong bipartisan foundation of reform with loopholes and exemptions for the most egregious abusers of consumers.

I won't accept anything short of the full protection that our citizens deserve and our economy needs. It's a fight worth having, and it is a fight we can win -- if we stand up and speak out together.

So I'm asking you to join me, starting today, by adding your name as a strong supporter of Wall Street reform:

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

President Obama Considers Military Options against Iran

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Iran now has the full attention of President Obama, as military plans are going into place to strike Iran's nuclear sites, and the U.S. Central Command are preparing options for the President just in case he decides to take action.
In the meantime, the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad keeps making threating remarks to the rest of the world, especially against the United States, as he claims that his country is so powerful that there is no country in the world that would even consider to attack it. As the Iranian President said "Iran's army is so mighty today that no enemy can have a foul thought of invading Iran's territory."
The Iranian President was not invited to the Nuclear Summit held in Washington last week, and he was outraged because President Obama did not invite him. The U.N. Security Council most likely will be slapping Iran with more and more sanctions because the country continues to enhance their nuclear ambitions. As other countries have claimed in the past, Iran claims that their intentions for a nuclear program are for civilian purposes. If plans are to mount a military strike against Iran, most likely it would be done in a very deliberate and calculated manner.

Financial Reform Bill - Next on the Agenda

The Health Care Reform bill has been passed, but not to the likings of the Republican party. It passed with absolutly no bi-partisan support. The Conservative party would like to eliminate the bill, but at the moment, they cannot even pay attention to it. Why? Because now in the works is a Financial reform bill. The Republicans as usually will not be cooperating with the President on this issue, but this time it may be harder for the President to railroad the bill through with out bi-partisan congressional support. Even the Democratic Conservatives are now showing some reservation to do what it takes, at least for the moment to block the bill from proceeding. So what is this bill all about. An explaination of the Financial Reform bill will follow soon.

Stupak, linchpin of health bill, calls it quits

Friday, April 9, 2010

Stupak, linchpin of health bill, calls it quits
REP. Bart Stupak

Rep. Bart Stupak insists that tea party activists outraged over his crucial support of health care legislation didn't run him out of office, but his decision to retire gives conservatives a rallying point as they target Democrats in the midterm elections.

The congressman, an anti-abortion Democrat whose high-profile role in the "Obamacare" debate earned him enemies on the left and the right, said Friday that he's leaving because he's tired and has accomplished his No. 1 goal: improving health care.

"The tea party did not run me out," Stupak told The Associated Press in a phone interview. "If you know me and my personality, I would welcome the challenge."
Stupak had been a consistent landslide winner in his sprawling northern Michigan district, and the opening now offers Republicans a ripe opportunity to regain a
seat they held for decades until Stupak prevailed in 1992.

His political foes -- tea party activists and abortion opponents -- both claimed credit for forcing him into retirement, and Michigan GOP Chairman Ron Weiser declared that the nine-term incumbent had become the first casualty of the battle over health care in Congress.

As he announced his decision, Stupak mentioned threats he has received because of his stance on various issues, including health care.

"The three o'clock in the morning phone calls, that's people outside the district," he said. "That's not my district. I know these folks. They wouldn't do that. You sort of just ignore it and move on."

Stupak's retirement marked the latest in a series of political setbacks for a party striving to retain control of Congress against a backdrop of recession and high unemployment.

So far, 20 Democrats and 20 Republicans have either resigned or announced they will not run again in the fall, but the equal numbers mask a clear advantage for the GOP. Democrats will be defending at least a dozen potentially competitive open districts, while all but two of the Republican retirements are in generally safe GOP territory.

Democrats currently have a 253-177 majority, with five vacancies that will be filled by special elections before November. It takes 218 to win a majority.

There was no tangible evidence Stupak was in political jeopardy in his socially conservative district. His Democratic primary opponent supports abortion rights, and none of his three Republican challengers had reported any campaign cash on hand.

Democratic strategists said Stupak's name had not appeared on any internal list of party incumbents who might be in jeopardy in the fall.

"Stupak has always had very high personal popularity," said Bernie Porn, a pollster with Lansing-based EPIC-MRA. "I would have difficulty believing the tea party influence in and of itself would have driven him out."

Stupak defeated former state Rep. Tom Casperson with 65 percent of the vote in 2008 while fellow Democrat Obama got 50 percent of the congressional district's vote. Republican George W. Bush carried the district in 2004, while Stupak won re-election.

"People up here are very independent, and they vote that way," said state Rep. Gary McDowell, a Democrat from Rudyard in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. "There's probably more ticketsplitters and more independent-thinking people in this district I would say than probably any other part of the state."

With his retirement announcement, five Democratic state legislators -- including Senate Democratic Leader Mike Prusi -- say they may run for Stupak's seat. Kevin Elsenheimer, the state House GOP leader, also is showing interest.

Tea party activists, laboring to establish themselves as a force in the 2010 campaign, were particularly vocal. In a written statement, the organization said more than 400 people turned out for a rally it held Wednesday night in Stupak's district, and another, larger event was planned as part of a nationwide Tea Party Express tour.

"Bart Stupak's decision to retire is emblematic of the many Democrats in swing districts who have been forced into casting tough votes in favor politically unpopular policies at the behest of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi," added Ken Spain, communications director for the House Republican campaign committee.

No prominent or well-funded Republican, however, had stepped in to challenge Stupak, who said he was confident of winning re-election. The 58-year-old said he was withdrawing because he was worn out and wanted more family time after nearly 18 years in Congress and the grueling health care battle.

"I've struggled with this decision. I've wanted to leave a couple of times, but I always thought there was one more job to be done," he said at a news conference.

"Since the day I took office, I fought to improve the quality and accessibility of health care," he said. "My No. 1 legislative goal has been accomplished."

Stupak had little national profile before the health care debate. He led a group of anti-abortion Democrats who held out against the legislation until President Barack Obama agreed to sign an executive order ensuring that federal funds would not be used for abortions. That quickly transformed him from the bane of the bill's supporters to the bane of its foes.

The group announced a few days ago it would spend $250,000 on radio and television commercials seeking his defeat.

"Stupak was not longer able to hide his betrayal of conservative principles because the tea party movement was determined to educate the voters in his district of his vote of betrayal for Obamacare," said Bryan Shroyer, the group's political director.

Stupak unflinchingly stood up to the White House and the Democratic leadership last year when he helped assure that an early version of the health care bill included strong anti-abortion protections supported by conservative groups.

At the same time, he stressed he wanted to vote for health care legislation, and it was clear he hoped to do so in the run-up to the House's key vote on the final version of the bill last month.

As part of the final compromise, Obama agreed to sign an executive order stipulating that no federal funds would be used to finance abortions as a result of passage of the health care legislation. The step secured the votes of Stupak and a handful of other Democratic opponents of abortion rights, but angered anti-abortion groups who said the order was not enough.

President Obama signs Nuclear agreement with Russian Medvedev

Prague, Czech Republic (CNN) -- President Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday signed a major nuclear arms control agreement that reduces the nuclear stockpiles of both nations.
The new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty -- known by its acronym, START-- builds on a previous agreement that expired in December.
The agreement cuts the number of nuclear weapons held by the United States and Russia by about a third.
"This day demonstrates the determination of the United States and Russia -- the two nations that hold over 90 percent of the world's nuclear weapons -- to pursue responsible global leadership," Obama said after the signing.
"Together, we are keeping our commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which must be the foundation for global nonproliferation."
Medvedev called START a "win-win situation" for the two countries.

"This agreement enhances strategic ability and, at the same time, allows us to rise to a higher level of cooperation between Russia and the United States," he said.
The two leaders talked about a range of nuclear issues, including Iran, in their meeting before the signing ceremony.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said he hopes Congress will ratify the treaty with a large bipartisan majority, as it has with previous arms control treaties.
"We are hopeful that reducing the threat of nuclear weapons remains a priority for both parties," Gibbs said.

The full treaty and its protocols will be posted online at some point Thursday, Gibbs said. Brian McKeon, a senior adviser to the White House's National Security Council and deputy national security adviser to the vice president, will lead the administration's ratification effort, Gibbs said.
Administration officials will begin briefing members of the Senate on Thursday on the particulars of the treaty.
Gibbs said Obama was also briefed on the situation in Kyrgyzstan, where the opposition claimed control of government Wednesday after deadly protests across the country.
Obama will have dinner with heads of government from 11 countries -- Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The highlight of the two-day trip is the new treaty with Russia, which is another step in nuclear arms relations between the former Cold War adversaries. Its signing comes two days after the Obama administration announced a new U.S. nuclear weapons policy and four days before Obama convenes a summit of 47 nations on nuclear security issues.
"It significantly reduces missiles and launchers," Obama said of the new treaty, which lasts for 10 years. "It puts in place a strong and effective verification regime. And it maintains the flexibility that we need to protect and advance our national security, and to guarantee our unwavering commitment to the security of our allies."
Obama has made nuclear nonproliferation a major priority of his presidency, prompting criticism from conservatives who fear the president will weaken the U.S. nuclear deterrent against possible attack.
"We believe that preventing nuclear terrorism and nuclear proliferation should begin by directly confronting the two leading proliferators and supporters of terrorism, Iran and North Korea," according to a statement issued Tuesday by Arizona's two Republican U.S. senators, John McCain and Jon Kyl.
"The Obama administration's policies, thus far, have failed to do that and this failure has sent exactly the wrong message to other would-be proliferators and supporters of terrorism."
According to information released by the White House, the new treaty limits both nations to "significantly fewer strategic arms within seven years" of its signing. One of the limits: 1,550 warheads.
"Warheads on deployed ICBMs [Intercontinental ballistic missiles] and deployed SLBMs [submarine-launched ballistic missiles] count toward this limit and each deployed heavy bomber equipped for nuclear armaments counts as one warhead toward this limit," the White House said.
There also are limits on launchers.
The treaty also lays out a "verification regime" that includes on-site inspections, data exchanges and notifications, the White House said.
"The treaty does not contain any constraints on testing, development or deployment of current or planned U.S. missile defense programs or current or planned United States long-range conventional strike capabilities," according to the White House.
Obama said the agreement is part of an effort to "reset" the U.S. relationship with Russia.
"With this agreement, the United States and Russia -- the two largest nuclear powers in the world -- also send a clear signal that we intend to lead," the president said. "By upholding our own commitments under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, we strengthen our global efforts to stop the spread of these weapons, and to ensure that other nations meet their own responsibilities."
Negotiators have been working since April 2009 to wrap up the "follow-on" to the 1991 START agreement. Talks were difficult, with disagreements over verification, including on-site inspection of missiles that carry nuclear warheads.
A U.S. official with knowledge of the talks earlier said that negotiators had found "innovative" ways to verify what each side has. Verification will be a top issue politically because the U.S. Senate and the Russian parliament will each have to ratify any agreement.
Russian officials at one point objected to the Obama administration's plans to build a missile-defense system in Eastern Europe. Specifically, they were angered by news leaks from Romania that it had agreed to allow missile interceptors to be installed in that country.
The issue, according to arms control experts, was resolved by including non-binding language in the START treaty's preamble stating that there is a relationship between offensive and defensive weapons; however, the treaty itself deals only with limits on offensive weapons systems.
This resolution could help placate U.S. critics who want no link in the treaty between offensive and defensive weapons, arguing that it might be used to try to limit a U.S. missile-defense plan.
The new treaty would be the first pact related to arms control since the end of the Cold War, experts have said, setting the stage for further arms reductions that will tackle thorny issues such as what to do with non-deployed warheads that are kept in storage, tactical nuclear weapons and further cuts in missiles and launch vehicles.

Some of those issues are expected to come up at the nuclear security summit in Washington on Monday and Tuesday.

Smart Purchasing Online

Monday, April 5, 2010

Purchasing products online can be a good thing, but sometimes if you are not careful enough, you can get taken as far as the price goes. With the job market the way that it is today, being that so many people are out of work, President Obama would like people to be extra careful in spending their hard earned money. If you find out that you do allot of purchasing online, then you would definitely want to find daily deals on products that you may need from time to time. Products such as laptops, TV's, audio/video equipment, and photography items can be found. You can search for the deals and the steals; the ones that would most benefit you. Because of the job market or the lack of one, some people believe that they could not afford such a luxary as a computer. But smart shopping online would change your thinking, and you could benefit at most any time, when products are offered at great prices.

Health Care Bill now law - President Obama still must sell it to the American People

Sunday, April 4, 2010

Trying to win people to support legislation such as the health care bill without bi-partisan support can be a career killer, especially for President Obama. But he deeply believes that what the bill represents is the change that is needed in health care reform. He is willing to sacrifice a second term in office than to try and play things safe, in comparison to George Bush. Mr. Bush's domestic agenda was no where as strong as President Obama's. President Obama has only been in office for nearly 2 years. It seems sometimes that the harder he tries to do what he believes is right, the harder it is to get things done. Sometimes going with the status quo is not the answer. Most American people believe that they know what is right for them, but if you would listen to any one of them, their opinions are different. They can all make the general statement that President Obama's health care reform bill will not work, but you can't say that if you haven't given the bill a chance to take hold.

President Obama is smarter than most peole think. He will work on pulling support for his bill until the end. In the midst of his travels, parts of the bill will be phased in, and more and more people will be able to see the benefits. He is banking his future on his sincere belief that what he is doing is right for everyone.

The main issues with what I see about the bill is that the President wants all Americans to have insurance, and if they do not participate in a plan that they qualify for, then they must be fined for not participating. Most Americans will agree that it is against our Constitutional right to be forced to participate in health care or anything for that matter, and there will be a long hard legal fight to repeal the law. I highly doubt that the opposition of the bill can have the law repealed. If that is done, President Obama just wasted a year in office with sleepless nights trying to find ways to make his bill happen. Instead, now he will fight sleepless nights traveling around the country in support for his bill.

Polls show so far that the Presidents Health Care Reform bill has Little Support

The polls continue to come out regarding how the American public feels about the health care overhaul. According to a poll conducted from March 29th through April 1, most Americans disapprove and are very skeptical of the health care reform bill signed into law by President Obama only a week ago. 53% of the people polled disapprove, and only 32% approve, while 15% of the pubic still doesn't know. President Obama continues to travel throughout the country to talk about his health care reforms now set to take place. As stated in a previous article, the President went to Portland, Maine, where he told the people that it would take more than a week for the benefits of reform to become apparent. For the most part, the poll shows that the Presidents ability to help build support for the bill is not working, along with at least 6 out of 10 Americans that now believe that the health care bill will not eventually reduce the budget deficit, but increase it. This is bad news for President Obama. Still he appears to be unscathed with the news. He will continue to plug his health care reform bill, in an attempt to finally win people over to his side. But like he said, it's only been a week. After all Rome wasn't built in one day.

President Obama criticized heath care haters in a speech full of light headed remarks

Friday, April 2, 2010

President Obama took jabs at the health care haters in a speech in Portland Maine on Monday April 1, 2010. Making mention of what Republicans said would happen after the health care bill was signed, he speaks of the pundits who are so critical of the health care bill.

The President said that some pundits say that the world will end since the bill was passed. They say that is is the end of freedom as we know it.

The President then compared what had happened to the world since the bill was signed just a week ago.

As the President said,

After he signed the bill, he looked around and this is what he saw...

1) He looked up at the sky to see if the asteroids were coming...
2) He looked at the ground to see if cracks had opened up in the earth but then
noted that it turned out to be a nice day.
 3) Birds were still chirpin'.
4) Folks were still strollin' down the street.
5) Nobody lost their doctor.
6) Nobody had pulled the plug at granny.
7) Nobody was being dragged away and forced to join some government health care plan.
8) Pundits say that the nation is still divided on health care reform.
9) Pundits say that the pools haven't changed yet.

And the president had an answer... "Well yea, it just happened last week. It's only been a week".

Then he started talking more about the reports.. He stated if you could imagine if some of these reporters were working on a farm, you planted some seeds, they came out the next day and they looked, and then they said "Nothin's happened!!!!"  "There's no crop" "We are going to starve" "Oh no" "It's a disaster"

Then the President says... "It's been a week folks."

The bottom line in his speech was "So before we find out if people like health care reform, we should wait to see what happens when we actually put it into place. Just a thought."

Health Care Bill Complete after Health Care 'fixes' bill passes on Tuesday

As previously stated, President Obama signed the health care 'fixes' bill on Tuesday, which signifies the finality of the bill. Unless the Republicans or the opposition can legally overturn the bill, President Obama has recorded a crucial victory, one that he desperately needed, but one that my eventually be his alkalies heal. So how could a bill that most certainly would be such a benefit for so many people, turn out to be something that could hurt him in the future? Well for one, most people do not support the bill, but now are obligated under law to accept it, as it will change peoples lives forever. It will give you benefits that you
never would have had, but at the same time give you benefits that you might not necessarily want. Conservative thinking is such that this is a free country, and you should not be forced to accept anything, especially something that is mandated by the Federal Government. Because of the passage of the Health Care Reform bill, there are several lawsuits now pending in over a dozen states which claim that it is against the law to force
someone to purchase health insurance if they do not want it. The opposition party, namely the Republicans have vowed to "repeal and replace" the health care bill. To overturn the bill would take a long and hard fight, but ultimately what would kill the bill would be a very long court battle that most likely will never happen. As time goes on, people will tend to want to leave it alone, and public support for the bill should increase. When this happens, chances are that the bill will never be overturned.
